A rapidly scaling startup in high‑precision hardware manufacturing is seeking a **Quality Inspector** to support production, incoming materials, and documentation control. **Role Overview**
The Quality Inspector will perform detailed inspections across production and incoming materials, maintain accurate quality documentation, support audits, and collaborate closely with manufacturing and engineering teams. This position plays a critical role in ensuring product reliability, compliance, and continuous improvement within a high‑mix, low‑volume environment.
**Key Responsibilities**
**🔍** **Production Quality Inspection**
+ Perform in‑process and final inspections for production assemblies
+ Follow work instructions and customer quality requirements with strict accuracy
+ Use microscopes and precision tools to inspect small, high‑value components
+ Complete inspection checklists in alignment with production schedules
**📦** **Incoming Quality Inspection**
+ Inspect incoming materials per defined criteria and quality control plans
+ Verify documentation, certifications, and material records
+ Inspect materials requiring special handling (glues, adhesives, chemicals)
+ Confirm labeling, expiration dates, storage requirements, and SDS availability
**🗂️** **Documentation & Data Control**
+ Review Travelers, Work Orders, and inspection records for completeness
+ Scan, file, and maintain quality records to meet ISO 9001 and customer standards
**🛡️** **Audits & Compliance**
+ Participate in monthly process audits
+ Monitor daily ESD compliance, including humidity checks
+ Follow and reinforce quality procedures and handling requirements
**🤝** **Communication & Continuous Improvement**
+ Attend daily stand‑up meetings and provide inspection updates
+ Participate in discussions on gating items, risks, and inspection constraints
+ Assist in training technicians on quality expectations
+ Identify opportunities to streamline or standardize inspection and documentation processes
**Required Skills**
+ Microscope inspection
+ Ability to read and interpret schematics
**Qualifications**
+ High school diploma or equivalent
+ 2+ years in manufacturing, inspection, or quality roles
+ Strong adherence to detailed work instructions and quality procedures
+ Familiarity with ISO 9001 or similar QMS
+ Comfortable inspecting small precision parts under a microscope
+ Excellent attention to detail and documentation accuracy
+ Basic computer skills; ability to learn PLM/quality systems (e.g., Arena)
+ Experience in photonics, optics, microelectronics, or aerospace/defense manufacturing
+ Understanding of ESD‑controlled environments
+ Experience with nonconformance reporting and MRB processes
+ Ability to work independently with minimal supervision
+ Clear communication with manufacturing, operations, and quality leadership
**Job Type & Location**
This is a Contract to Hire position based out of San Jose, CA.
**Pay and Benefits**
The pay range for this position is $32.00 - $39.00/hr.
