Quality Engineering Specialist – Mainframe & ATM Systems
Position Description:

This role is hybrid and requires you to be at our Client office at a minimum 4 days per week - subject to change at any time. 

As a Quality Engineering Specialist, you will work in a testing and quality assurance capacity on our core mainframe cards and transactions system, ensuring stability, reliability, and quality across critical banking services.

The core application is a large, sophisticated mainframe-based system that connects clients to their banking products and services. This 24/7 application supports critical delivery channels such as Online Banking, POS, ATM, and other high-volume transaction platforms.

Your future duties and responsibilities:

.    Design, develop, execute, and maintain test strategies, test plans, and test cases for mainframe applications
.    Perform functional, integration, regression, and system testing across online and batch environments
.    Validate end-to-end transaction flows, including physical ATM interactions and customer-facing scenarios
.    Execute testing at physical ATM locations, as required, to validate real-world behavior and fixes
.    Validate data integrity and transaction processing across IMS, DB2, and MQ interfaces
.    Support conversion, attestation, audit, and regulatory initiatives from a quality perspective
.    Analyze business and technical requirements to ensure complete test coverage
.    Identify, track, and clearly communicate defects, risks, and quality gaps
.    Collaborate closely with developers, BSAs, and IT partners to ensure timely delivery
.    Create and maintain test documentation and execution evidence
.    Support production validation and after-hours support when required (rare)

Required qualifications to be successful in this role:

Must-have
.    Completion of a post-secondary education
.    Strong written and verbal communication skills
.    Solid experience in mainframe testing / quality engineering
.    Hands-on knowledge of COBOL, JCL, IMS (DB/Online/Batch), DB2, MQSeries
.    Experience validating batch jobs, online transactions, and data flows
.    Willingness and ability to perform hands-on testing at physical ATM machines
.    Familiarity with Git / Endevor environments
.    Strong analytical and problem-solving skills

Nice-to-have
.    Experience with test automation (zUnit or similar tools)
.    Understanding or hands-on usage of IDz, z/OS Connect
.    Exposure to CI/CD pipelines in a mainframe environment
.    Knowledge of Java or cloud-based integrations
.    Experience in banking, payments, cards, or ATM systems

**CGI is providing a reasonable estimate of the pay range for this role. The determination of this range includes factors such as skill set level, geographic market, experience and training, and licenses and certifications. Compensation decisions depend on the facts and circumstances of each case. A reasonable estimate of the current range is $65,000–$115,000. This role is an existing vacancy.**
