Job Summary: 

Trane Technologies is hiring a Quality Engineer in Grand Rapids. The Quality Engineer will effectively administer the Quality Management System in accordance with current procedures and work instructions, and will collaborate with Manufacturing Engineering, Operations, Program Management, and Supply Chain to meet customer expectations.

What you will do:

Exemplify the Trane core values on a day-to-day basis.Support operations when quality issues arise to maintain production.Partner with cross functional teams to investigate root causes and drive implementation of corrective and preventive actions for customer complaints and internal issues.  Leverage common problem-solving tools (9 Step, 8D, A3).Applies measures, sampling methods, testing methodology and other procedures that ensure that quality standards are met.Identify and drives cost savings and/or efficiency projects to reduce waste and increase productivity.Manage Braze Excellence program, including strategic A3 and process improvementsIdentify and drive continuous improvement actions/projects to reduce scrap and/or achieve productivity and sustainability goals.Implement process improvements by utilizing quality methodologies and tools (Six-sigma, 5S, Lean, SPC, CpK, and TPS) to enhance internal and external performance.  Utilizing PFMEA/CP as a live document. Conducted investigations for product and process non-conformances using corrective action and/or 9-step methodologies.Actively involved with NPD activities to ensure manufacturability and quality is achieved.Ownership, monitoring, support, and coordination of corrective actions, and deviations. Take a leading role in defect analysis and continuous improvement efforts with a goal of zero defects.Prepare and maintain detailed documentation/system (Apriso) of quality control processes, test results, and corrective actions.Generate quality reports, develop and maintain A3 strategy/6-pack for assigned areas.Create, maintain, and report daily, weekly and/or monthly KPIsDevelop, and maintain control plans Implement Quality at the Source and Quality ABCMaintain KRONOS Pay System by reviewing, editing, and approving employee timecardsAdditional duties as assigned.

Qualifications:

Bachelor's degree in Engineering or similar degree preferred. Will consider experience in lieu of a degree. High school diploma or equivalent required.2+ years Engineering experience in an assembly manufacturing environment, including blueprint reading and using various measuring equipmentMust be computer -savvy and proficient experience in Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, PowerPoint)Experienced with PFMEA and Control PlansMust have excellent verbal and written communication skills (written and verbal) Skilled in investigation of root causes and driving implementation of corrective and preventive actions for customer complaints and internal issues.Experience using common problem-solving tools, preferably 9 Step, 8D, A3Experience in APQP and NPD preferredAbility to organize tasks and manage time to complete multiple assignments simultaneously.Ability to communicate at all levels within business and with suppliers, etc.

Compensation:   

Pay Range: $80,000 - $110,000
