Job Title: Quality Engineer
Job Description
The Quality Engineer is responsible for providing quality assurance support to the product development team. The role involves resolving bugs, defects, and other potential issues to ensure products meet customer specifications.
Responsibilities
+ Implement effective corrective actions through robust root cause analysis and facilitation with process owners.
+ Support manufacturing in developing effective procedures and work instructions that meet ISO9001 and other quality management standards.
+ Actively engage in root cause identification, corrective actions, and preventative actions for customer concerns, complaints, and queries.
+ Approve suppliers and establish appropriate levels of control based on product nature and supplier capability, continuously improving the quality of externally supplied parts.
+ Utilize problem-solving techniques for internal and supplier issues, establish robust RCCM through facilitation with process owners, and drive improvements to products and processes using performance data.
+ Create visual awareness of quality metrics and communicate them to the business.
+ Assist in the development and execution of a process audit plan.
+ Review the business to ensure department methodologies, processes, and procedures are adhered to.
+ Implement methodologies for establishing the 'cost of quality'.
Essential Skills
+ Experience in quality engineering, quality assurance, and manufacturing engineering.
+ Strong understanding of supplier quality and root cause analysis.
+ Proficiency in audit processes and ISO 9001 standards.
+ CAPA and corrective action plans expertise.
+ Knowledge of engineering and quality management systems.
Additional Skills & Qualifications
+ Degree in Quality, Engineering, Manufacturing or equivalent relevant qualification.
+ 3-5 years minimum of relevant experience in a mixed volume, assembly environment.
+ Excellent problem-solving techniques such as CAPA, 8D, and 5 Whys are desirable.
+ In-depth understanding of the manufacturing process within a component and assembly environment.
+ Experience in supplier management and driving improvements within the supply chain.
+ Internal Auditor Qualification (ISO9001 preferred).
+ Ability to motivate and influence people at all levels, building relationships with customers and suppliers.
+ Capability to manage several projects and work under pressure without reducing attention to detail.
Work Environment
The current team consists of approximately five employees, with opportunities to learn and engage under the guidance of the Quality Manager. The role involves prolonged periods of sitting at a desk and working on a computer, with occasional lifting of up to 15 pounds.
Job Type & Location
This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Rochester, NY.
Pay and Benefits
The pay range for this position is $40.85 - $45.70/hr.
