Job Title: Quality Engineer

Job Description

in aeronautics or mechanical engineering. The ideal candidate will hold a BS degree in Aeronautics Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or a related discipline focusing on thermodynamics and mechanical systems. Equivalent applicable work experience may be considered. A Part 65 FAA Powerplant mechanics license is preferred. The role requires a minimum of five years of experience in Repair Station or Production, with at least two years in an engineering or test-related role.

Responsibilities

Perform inspection and release of engines and parts in a timely manner, including visual inspection, borescope inspection, and basic hand measurements.Ensure all paperwork associated with product shipment is in compliance, including creation of shipment documentation required by the customer.Ensure compliance of engine and component test plans to approved design data, including review and incorporation of engine manual changes and Service Bulletin changes for Repair Station.Support review and incorporation of Change in Design and engine drawings/specifications for Production. Support engine and component work plan updates.Ensure engine and component test and shop floor activities are executed per internally approved procedures and provide feedback for improvement.Review and propose test methods and devices used in support of engine and component testing and miscellaneous part manufacturing and inspection applications.Oversee test system and instrument calibrations, review results for acceptability, and coordinate appropriate adjustments.Collaborate with a working team to troubleshoot engine test failures for resolution through disposition or rework.Facilitate removal, replacement, and investigation of suspect parts issued to engines, including control of physical parts and documentation of condition in appropriate systems.Support root cause analysis and countermeasure implementation related to product escape, defect prevention, and systems/databases used to facilitate work.Participate in other projects as specified by Quality Management.

Essential Skills

Knowledge of 14CFR Part 43, Part 145, and Part 21 regulations.Ability in written communication, including technical writing and presentations.Ability to understand design data (drawings, specifications, manuals).Strong attention to detail and adherence to established processes.Strong organizational skills.Strong analytical, critical thinking, and problem-solving skills.Understanding of tooling and gaging, including sensors and instrumentation related to pressure, temperature, and fluid flow.Experience with Microsoft Office products, with advanced level for Excel preferred.Basic understanding of software codes, such as C/C++ and LabView.Experience with ERP and MES products, with IFS and/or Solumina preferred.Ability to foster teamwork.

Additional Skills & Qualifications

Part 65 FAA Powerplant mechanics license preferred.Experience in engine repair and testing.Data analysis skills.Experience in aviation and aerospace.

Work Environment

This position requires working routinely in a combination of shop floor and office environments. It involves exposure to manufacturing areas where personal protective equipment such as safety glasses and safety shoes are mandatory. Some areas may require additional protection, such as hearing protection. The role may involve lifting up to 50 lbs and requires corrected vision. Enrolment in a DOT/FAA Anti-Drug and Alcohol Misuse program is mandatory. The position may require working a split or off-shift schedule and has potential for periodic domestic and international travel.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $80000.00 - $95000.00/yr.
