The Quality Engineer supports the Quality Manager in developing, maintaining, and continuously improving the company’s Quality Management System (QMS). This role requires strong experience in nondestructive testing (NDT), naval and aerospace specifications, metallurgy, and compliance with ISO, NADCAP, Electric Boat, and NAVSEA requirements. The ideal candidate is detail-oriented, technically strong, and comfortable working in a regulated manufacturing environment.
Key ResponsibilitiesQuality Systems & ComplianceDevelop, maintain, and improve ISO 9001 and NADCAP quality systemsCreate and maintain quality procedures, work instructions, and specificationsConduct internal and external auditsManage nonconformance, corrective action, and continuous improvement processesAnalyze quality metrics and drive improvement initiativesCustomer & Contract SupportPerform contract reviews and ensure quality requirements are fully implementedInterface with customers on quality issues, audits, and procedure approvalsInvestigate customer complaints and perform root cause analysisPrepare and submit Nonconformance Material Reports (NCMRs)Technical & Manufacturing SupportInterpret and implement Electric Boat and NAVSEA specificationsReview military, aerospace, and industry standardsSupport naval shipbuilding quality requirementsProvide technical support to manufacturing engineeringInterpret blueprints, GD&T, and machining drawingsNDT, Materials & Heat TreatOversee nondestructive examination processesReview and approve NDT proceduresApprove raw material receipts and material certificationsAnalyze mill test reports and approve CMTRsMaintain expertise in AMS 2750E pyrometry requirementsReview heat treatment procedures and temperature uniformity surveysEnsure calibration and maintenance of heat treatment equipmentDocumentation & LeadershipConduct final reviews of quality documentation packagesEnsure traceability and record retentionDirect and coordinate quality personnel as neededProvide quality-related training to employeesRequired QualificationsMinimum 5 years of Quality Engineering experience in a manufacturing environmentExperience with NDT methods and standardsWorking knowledge of Electric Boat and/or NAVSEA specificationsHands-on experience with ISO 9001 and NADCAPStrong understanding of metallurgy, forging, machining, and heat treatmentProficiency in GD&T and technical drawingsFamiliarity with AMS 2750EIntermediate to advanced Microsoft Excel skillsExperience with quality management softwarePreferred QualificationsBachelor’s degree in Metallurgical Engineering, Materials Science, Mechanical Engineering, or related field (or equivalent experience)AS9100 or ISO 9001 trainingQuality Auditor certification (Internal Auditor required; Lead Auditor preferred)NDT Level II certificationTraining in military and naval specificationsKey CompetenciesStrong analytical and problem-solving skillsExcellent written and verbal communicationHigh attention to detail and organizationAbility to manage multiple prioritiesTeam-oriented with a customer-focused mindsetWork EnvironmentManufacturing environment with periodic shop floor exposureOccasional travel for customer meetings or auditsFacility size: approximately 55–60 employeesJob Type & Location

Pay and BenefitsThe pay range for this position is $110000.00 - $120000.00/yr.
