The Quality Engineer acts as a liaison and team leader between departments, making independent decisions to ensure adherence to quality and reliability procedures. This role serves as a single point of contact for Program Teams for all Product Assurance Elements, tracking program budgets and providing work scope and budget for assigned team members. The position also supports proposals for new jobs and informs team members of the proposal requirements, providing Program Quality requirements for all team members.
ResponsibilitiesWork within a team construct in support of the assigned program.Develop and implement quality procedures.Develop and maintain monthly program status.Establish and collect data for metrics reporting, analyzing results for potentially adverse trends.Prepare status reports for management and present status to management and customers as required.Generate and track responses to internal and supplier Corrective Action Requests (CARs).Establish and maintain an effective monitoring program using PC-based tools for planning, tracking, and evaluating performance.Perform detailed contract reviews to determine quality assurance requirements.Communicate effectively with personnel at various levels to address both technical and management issues.Travel occasionally, requiring overnight stays, with acceptable airline travel.Essential SkillsCorrective and Preventive Actions (CAPA)Audit and root cause analysisQuality control and engineeringAS9100 and ISO 9001 standardsQuality assurance and management systemsExperience with testing, troubleshooting electronic components, oscilloscopes, and multimetersEffective communication skillsAdditional Skills & QualificationsDegree in Engineering (preferably Industrial Engineering or Mechanical Engineering) from a four-year college or university2 years of related experienceWork EnvironmentThe work environment is primarily on the manufacturing floor, where the Quality Engineer will have a dedicated bench and work in different areas. Depending on the test, tasks may involve moving into chambers. The role involves troubleshooting products, identifying or confirming issues, replacing or repairing components, and retesting before moving products along. The position operates under a 9/80 work week, with nine-hour days and an eight-hour Friday in the first week. Employees are paid bi-weekly and work closely with a lead and supervisor who are willing to train.
