Quality Engineer

Job Title: Quality Engineer

We are seeking an experienced Quality Engineer to join our team. This role offers an exciting opportunity to work with customers across various industries, focusing on quality assurance and continuous improvement. You will be responsible for problem-solving using methodologies like 8D and 5 Whys, providing corrective action solutions, and supporting ISO 9001 and management systems. The role involves auditing and overseeing supplier quality systems, driving continuous improvement initiatives, and participating actively in new product launches.

Responsibilities

Solve customer problems using 8D or 5 Whys methodology and provide corrective action solutions.Support ISO 9001 and management systems visibly and actively.Perform quality and environmental management system audits as an internal auditor.Conduct supplier quality system audits and product/process audits.Manage customer complaints and practice positive customer relations.Oversee product containment and rework processes at customer sites.Issue and drive effective supplier corrective actions.Participate in new product launches representing Quality as part of the APQP process.Drive continuous improvement by applying lean or Six Sigma approaches.Assist the Quality Assurance Team in resolving customer concerns.Provide technical support in new product introduction, operational excellence, and customer service.Continuously upgrade skills and provide training and guidance to less experienced personnel.Resolve issues at plant level and understand customer concerns to provide solutions.Spend most of the time on the floor resolving problems/issues and being hands-on in the lab.Visit suppliers with some travel involved (10-20% depending on projects).

Essential Skills

Bachelor's degree in an Engineering discipline.3+ years of experience with APQP.Experience in statistical analysis and Statistical Process Control (SPC) software.ISO 9001 experience.PPAP experience.Proficiency in using basic inspection equipment like calipers and micrometers.Problem-solving using 8D and 5 Whys methodology.

Additional Skills & Qualifications

Experience in the fastener industry.Exposure to automotive and/or heavy truck industries.Experience working under ISO and IATF management systems.Gage calibration and related software experience.Experience with Optical Comparator, Hardness Tester, and Plug Gages.Exposure to lean and Six Sigma methodologies.Experience in quality management system or supplier process/product audits.

Work Environment

The work environment consists of a small office attached to a clean lab equipped with lab instruments, micrometers, calipers, gages, and computers. The facility also includes a large warehouse where products are distributed rather than manufactured. The team consists of 22 members located in Solon.

Job Type & Location

This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Solon, OH.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $38.00 - $43.00/hr.
