Job Summary
The Quality Engineer ensures conformance to Caterpillar’s quality standards by performing inspections, audits, and analysis of materials, processes, and products. The role collaborates with cross-functional teams to implement best practices that reduce variation, prevent defects, and drive continuous improvement. The QE supports internal and external audits, maintains quality documentation, and analyzes non‑conformance data to support decision making. Due to frequent coordination with global suppliers and multi‑site teams, strong English communication skills are essential. The role requires high accuracy, critical thinking, adaptability, and the ability to work under pressure while managing multiple priorities. A strong sense of urgency and collaboration across functions is expected.

What the Candidate Will Do
• Perform inspections, audits, and measurement system analysis to ensure compliance with Caterpillar standards.
• Analyze and communicate non‑conformance data; maintain quality system documentation.
• Support internal and external audits, including corrective and preventive action follow‑up.
• Collaborate with cross‑functional teams to drive continuous improvement initiatives.
• Manage multiple priorities while maintaining accuracy and attention to detail.
• Communicate effectively in English with suppliers and cross‑regional teams.
• Demonstrate sense of urgency and ability to work under pressure.
• Adapt to changing conditions and contribute to problem‑solving processes.

Education Requirements
• Bachelor’s degree in industrial, Mechanical, Manufacturing Engineering, or related field is required.
• English: Intermediate–Advanced (required).

• Follows QMS processes, documentation, and compliance requirements.

• Identifies decision boundaries and escalates when needed.

Collaborating:
• Works effectively with cross-functional and cross-regional teams.
• Supports shared goals and collaborative problem solving.

• Working knowledge communicating with suppliers outside Mexico.
• Familiarity with APQP / PPAP processes.

Preferred Qualifications
• Six Sigma Yellow/Green Belt, ASQ CQE, or similar certifications.
• Working knowledge in audits, APQP, PPAP, or manufacturing/supplier quality roles.
• Working knowledge supporting international suppliers.

Additional Information
• The location for this position is available in Santa Catarina.
• Work schedule: Monday to Friday, 7am - 4pm.

• This position will require 40% travel, domestic and international. (Supplier visits, audits, multi‑site activities).

• Relocation is not available.
