**Job Title: Quality Coordinator** **Location:** Ashland, KY **Job Type:** Full-Time Permanent **Industry:** Manufacturing / Refractory Products **Position Summary** We are seeking a dedicated **Quality Coordinator** to lead our site’s quality assurance and control efforts in a **unionized manufacturing environment** . This role is critical to ensuring product compliance, maintaining ISO 9001 standards, and driving continuous improvement. The ideal candidate is a collaborative leader with strong technical expertise and a commitment to quality excellence. **Key Responsibilities** + Oversee daily quality control operations including raw material verification, in-process inspections, and final product testing. + Ensure timely and accurate issuance of Certificates of Analysis (COAs) for all outgoing products. + Analyze Statistical Process Control (SPC) data to monitor product and process stability; identify trends and implement improvements. + Manage Corrective and Preventive Action Requests (CCARs), ensuring root causes are addressed and corrective actions are executed. + Lead internal ISO 9001 audits and maintain certification compliance; prepare for external and customer audits. + Foster effective communication and collaboration with union-represented employees, respecting the collective bargaining agreement. + Partner with cross-functional teams (Production, Maintenance, R&D) to resolve quality issues and implement preventive measures. + Train and guide QC technicians and support staff to ensure consistent application of quality standards. + Serve as the primary contact for customer quality concerns, complaints, and returns; support resolution and documentation. + Generate and present quality performance reports to plant leadership. **Qualifications** + Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Materials Science, Chemistry, or a related technical field (or equivalent industry experience). + Minimum 5 years of quality experience in refractory, ceramics, or heavy manufacturing; 2+ years in a leadership role. + Experience in a unionized production environment strongly preferred. + Strong knowledge of ISO 9001 QMS, audit processes, and documentation practices. + Proficiency in SPC, root cause analysis (5 Whys, Fishbone), and continuous improvement tools. + Excellent communication, team-building, and conflict-resolution skills. + Competency in Microsoft Office; experience with ERP or LIMS systems is a plus. **Interested?
