Quality Coordinator

As our next **Quality Coordinator** , you’ll lead quality assurance efforts in a unionized manufacturing environment, ensuring compliance, driving continuous improvement, and supporting operational excellence. **2. Key Responsibilities / What You’ll Do** + Oversee daily quality control operations including raw material verification, in-process inspections, and final product testing + Ensure timely and accurate issuance of Certificates of Analysis (COAs) for all outgoing products + Analyze Statistical Process Control (SPC) data to monitor product and process stability; identify trends and implement improvements + Manage Corrective and Preventive Action Requests (CCARs), ensuring root causes are addressed and corrective actions are executed + Lead internal ISO 9001 audits and maintain certification compliance; prepare for external and customer audits + Foster effective communication and collaboration with union-represented employees + Partner with cross-functional teams (Production, Maintenance, R&D) to resolve quality issues and implement preventive measures + Train and guide QC technicians and support staff to ensure consistent application of quality standards + Serve as the primary contact for customer quality concerns, complaints, and returns + Generate and present quality performance reports to plant leadership **3. Required Skills & Qualifications** **Must-Have** + Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Materials Science, Chemistry, or related technical field (or equivalent industry experience) + Minimum 5 years of quality experience in refractory, ceramics, or heavy manufacturing + 2+ years in a leadership role + Experience in a unionized production environment strongly preferred + Strong knowledge of ISO 9001 QMS, audit processes, and documentation practices + Proficiency in SPC, root cause analysis (5 Whys, Fishbone), and continuous improvement tools + Excellent communication, team-building, and conflict-resolution skills + Competency in Microsoft Office; experience with ERP or LIMS systems is a plus **4.
