Quality Control Lab Scientist
Our Kankakee, IL client, is seeking a contract QC Lab Scientist join their team. The Quality Control Scientist is responsible for performing multi‑discipline analytical testing across multiple product lines to support overall business objectives. This role maintains the Product Stability, Product Retention, and Reverse Osmosis (RO) Water Quality Programs in compliance with current regulatory guidelines. The QC Scientist also supports special projects and Process Engineering analytical needs to sustain current operations and enable future business growth. **Hours:** May work a 2 week 12-hour shift cycle on either a day or night shift assignment. Will train on 8hr days M-F first before covering the 12-hour shift assignment. **Key Responsibilities** + Perform analytical testing on raw materials, in‑process samples, and finished products in compliance with GLP, GMP, and EHS requirements + Work within established standard operating procedures (SOPs), analytical methods, and regulatory guidelines with moderate supervision + Execute laboratory activities efficiently to support manufacturing schedules and product release timelines + Interpret and evaluate analytical data against specifications, process controls, and reference standards + Investigate atypical or aberrant results and initiate Out‑of‑Specification (OOS) investigations as needed + Maintain accurate and compliant quality records in accordance with regulatory requirements + Support and maintain Product Stability, Product Retention, and RO Water Quality Programs + Perform routine laboratory support activities, including inventory management and supply replenishment + Conduct laboratory instrument upkeep, including cleaning, calibration, and preventive maintenance + Perform advanced instrument troubleshooting and escalate issues as appropriate + Participate in audit preparation and maintain a state of audit readiness + Support special projects and Process Engineering analytical requirements + Work a rotating 12‑hour shift schedule (days or nights), every two weeks **Who We Are Seeking:** + Bachelor’s degree in Biology, Chemistry, or a related life science discipline **OR** + Associate’s degree **plus** 2+ years of professional experience in biology, chemistry, or a related life science field **Preferred Qualifications** + 1+ year of experience working in a cGMP Quality Control laboratory + Hands‑on experience with laboratory instrumentation such as HPLC, GC, UV/Vis, TOC, AA, and Karl Fischer (KF) + Knowledge of analytical chemistry, analytical microbiology, analytical biology, environmental monitoring, and plant hygiene processes + Proficiency with Minitab and Microsoft Office applications If this is a role that interests you and you’d like to learn more, click apply now and a recruiter will be in touch with you to discuss this great opportunity.
