Job Summary

Responsible for validating product quality by analyzing and testing the quality of the code base. Focuses on writing code that will be executed in an automated and repeatable fashion which will reduce manual testing efforts and increase code quality and consistency. Develops and maintains code that validates front-end, middleware and database systems, using the latest tools and programming languages. Provides input into various software development lifecycle stages. Partners with software engineers to write efficient automation code using coding standards and best practices. Reports test execution results to senior leadership. Repairs complex broken automation scripts and performs peer reviews of automation codebase. Integrates knowledge of business and functional priorities. Acts as a key contributor in a complex and crucial environment. May lead teams or projects and shares expertise.

Strong Expertise in Set-Top Box (STB), Smart TV platforms, broadcast technologies, and OTT solutions.Deep understanding ofDVB/ATSC standards, OTT streaming protocols, middleware (RDK/Android TV), video/audio codecsFamiliar with video test automation frameworks and industry trendsDefine test strategies, drive automation, ensure product quality, and collaborate closely with development, middleware, backend teams.Designing quality assurance practices; leads and able to contribute to engineering investigations which includes identifying, reproducing, and resolving product defectsWrite and edit complex, automated test code, that allows for repeatable, reliable testing solutions to test the wide functionality of products and software in accordance with specifications and technical requirements, maintaining automation codebase in a version control system.Perform code reviews of automation scripts and work closely with Test Engineers and Development teams to build test script hooks that help in earlier and easier testing.Collaborates with Product and Development teams to identify product and technical requirementsDevelop and execute comprehensive test plans and test cases for Smart features, including functional, performance, security, and compatibility testing.Assist in the identification and resolution of problems and defects; able to initiate investigation processes, identifies and reproduces bugs or defects and drives issues and improvements to resolutionWork as a motivated team player and mentor for junior-level engineers. Provides technical leadership and consultation with regards to practices, procedures and techniques.Mentoring and technical guidance for junior engineers and Strategic technology roadmap planningWork in an Agile/DevOps environment.Adds to team culture of diversity, equity, inclusion, and respect.

Preferred Technical Skills

Hands-on experience with device/consumer products test related to STB Products/OTT testing.Expertise in OTT standard technologies such as HLS, MPEG-DASH, Smooth Streaming, adaptive bit streamingGood understanding of Video Audio codecs (MPEG-2, H.264/AVC, H.265/HEVC, AV1, Dolby AC3/EAC3, DTS, AAC,Good Knowledge with DRM technologies Widevine, PlayReady, AirplayTesting experience in Connectivity features Wi-Fi 2.4/5/6, Ethernet, HDMI Features (HDMI, HDMI-CEC, HDCP) Bluetooth, IR & RF remotesStrong troubleshooting and root-cause-analysis skills; able to lead cross-functional team triageProven experience in developing and maintaining automated test frameworks using Java. Strong understanding of software development lifecycle (SDLC) and QA methodologies Strong troubleshooting and root-cause-analysis skills; able to lead cross-functional team triage Experience in Agile/Scrum methodology ideally in a fast-paced dev-ops environment Experience in Test/Defect Management tool - Jira/ALM” for both documents Additional advantage having CPE domain experience or Testing background  utilizing RDK/TDK suite
