Quality Assurance Technician
Weekend Shift Fri-Sun Quality Assurance Technicians are experts in understanding the measurement/qualification techniques for precision optics manufacturing. Their primary responsibility is to assure the expected outputs of the process are being met by qualifying the product to its specifications. QA Technicians are mobile support personnel who qualify product at the source of manufacture. Reports to Quality Supervisor. Specific Duties and Responsibilities Inspection · Qualify processes by conducting inspections to all geometric and surface quality tolerances. o ISO 10110 o Mil – PRF - 13830 o Mil – PRF - 48616 · Identification of optics and optical components, as defined in the process sheet. · Use of calipers, drop gauges, video microscopes, tweezers, and other tools as required for inspections. · Inspection of packaging for FOD prior to packaging product. · Creation of labels, Certificates of Conformance (CoC), documentation packages to be shipped to customers. Metrology · Performs basic metrology of optical components and assemblies using standard appropriate equipment. o Surface Figure/Irregularity of plano surfaces o Transmitted Wavefront and wedge measurements o Reflected wavefront o Radius and wavefront irregularity of curved surfaces · Performs basic environmental/durability testing in compliance with ISO and military standards; specifically adhesion, abrasion, humidity, temperature, and salt fog · Prepares documentation for external testing · Reads and understands drawings in order to determine specifications · Reads and follows process sheets, prints, coating scans, interferometer scans, and material certs. · Takes initiative to get drawings or process sheets corrected, where applicable. · Generates non-conforming materials reports and communicates with Engineering. · Identifies opportunities to provide training within the Manufacturing Organization in order to reduce inspection bottlenecks. Also seeks out opportunities to obtain training as a development opportunity. Qualifications: · High School Diploma preferred · Associates degree preferred · Knowledge and understanding of moderate to complex math calculations a plus. · 1-2 years of experience in a quality assurance position in a manufacturing environment preferred.
