Quality Assurance Engineer
Description

The Quality Engineer will support a manufacturer of precision‑machined components and complex steel fabrications. This individual will ensure product quality and regulatory compliance across both business divisions, with a strong focus on quality assurance activities and the development of robust documentation packages that meet required quality standards and specifications.

Primary ResponsibilitiesEstablish inspection criteria, test plans, and supporting documentation to ensure reliable, compliant outcomesVerify and validate that documentation packages accurately reflect project and customer requirementsDevelop quality cost estimates, including evaluation of vendor quality capabilities and alternativesSupport sales teams in developing winning proposals, including authoring quality assurance sections of bid packages and providing supporting documentation (e.g., certifications, test reports)Oversee technical quality requirements throughout the full project lifecycleManage the flow of quality documentation between clients, engineering, detailing, and production teamsCoordinate and perform vendor quality audits and support technical procurement activitiesConduct jobsite and vendor visits to verify compliance, perform audits, and assist in resolving quality issuesEvaluate and select inspection methods, tools, and gauges to optimize defect detectionCoordinate with external inspectors, auditors, and customer quality representativesCreate quality control drawings and inspection plans using CADPerform statistical analysis and quality calculations using Excel and other specialized softwareSkillsQuality assuranceDocumentation managementAdditional Skills & QualificationsBachelor’s degree in Engineering (Mechanical Engineering preferred)Working knowledge of AS9100, ISO 9001, or similar quality standards; nuclear standards experience strongly preferred5+ years of relevant experience strongly preferredStrong problem‑solving mindsetExceptional attention to detail; role is highly documentation‑ and computer‑intensive (e.g., verifying welder qualifications, reviewing metrology reports)Excellent written and verbal communication skillsStrong planning, organization, and time‑management skillsProficiency in Excel, CAD, and Microsoft Word

Job Type & Location

This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Clackamas, OR.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $38.46 - $52.88/hr.
