The Opportunity: 12 month maternity leave cover

 

Leads and/or conducts quality assurance testing of large and complex business software applications/projects to ensure reliability, functionality, and successful implementation in accordance with the SDLC. Acts as a subject matter expert and a team lead by coaching and mentoring more junior Quality Assurance Analysts, overseeing their work during larger projects, scheduling, providing estimations, explaining concepts and strategies (e.g., test automation, testing tools), introducing new testing approaches, and reviewing testing issues.

This is a hybrid role with flexible onsite expectations, typically 1 to 2 days per week. New employees are expected to be onsite 2 to 3 times a week during their first three months to support onboarding and collaboration.#LI-Hybrid

 

About The Role:

Analyze business and product requirements to design high level testing approach for larger and complex projects in accordance with industry and Symcor standards and software development best practices in order to ensure that testing will validate functionality. Liaise with subject matter experts, development team, implementation support and production support staff to define testing specifications as required. Recommend product and business solution improvements for future releases. Provide input into implementation of the application solution. Identify efficient testing solutions for all requirements. Convert business requirements into test cases. Provide automated tests to demonstrate correctness Fix product defects and develop regressions tests. Provide accurate and timely estimates for work efforts, both for a single change request and full, large, and complex project initiatives. In collaboration with key stakeholders, produce the test strategy and test plan and provide testing support for larger and more complex projects which meets Symcor’s requirements and standards to ensure the delivery of key projects and support initiatives that meet business and client needs. Identify required resources and work with the Project Manager to engage the right resources to test the solution.  Effective and timely identification of quality issues and risks. Effective and timely identification and resolution of barriers to test execution. Complete required documentation in a clear, complete, and accurate format (e.g., test strategy, test plan). Provide QA project Status feedback. Monitor the hours worked on a particular project to ensure that project is delivered on time and on budget on a weekly basis. Drive continuous improvement within Quality Assurance and Test Execution in order to achieve the most efficient and effective way to deliver a functional, reliable and available solution to clients and the business in a quick and timely manner. Implement test automation effectively. Review and recommend industry standard with respect to testing tools, process and methodology (e.g., Agile). Identify gaps in current processes and procedures and Contribute to process improvements/make recommendations for improvement. Ensure the most effective test management and test execution concepts and methodologies are utilized. Act as a team lead by coaching and mentoring more junior Quality Analysts, including identifying skill gaps, delegating tasks, explaining concepts and strategies, introducing new technologies, and reviewing testing issues to develop the capability of the team and ensure work is completed to industry and Symcor best practices and standards.

 

What You Need to Succeed:

 

Education:

College diploma or undergraduate university degree in a related discipline (e.g., Computer Science) or a combination of experience, education and/or training deemed to be equivalent.

Experience:

10+ years of IT related experience. 5+ years’ experience working in a QA environment. 5+ years’ experience and proven track record with automated regression test tools and building and maintaining the automated test scripts.

 

Skill requirements

Proven history or writing and maintaining test cases, test plans and test scripts. Excellent comprehension of QA process and methodologies and Software Development Life Cycle Excellent knowledge in MS Word, MS Project, MS Excel and Visio. Programming skills.
