Job Title: Quality Technician

Job Description

The Quality Technician will operate within a food production facility to ensure that the manufacturing environment, raw materials, packaging materials, production processes, and finished products comply with established standards for quality, safety, cost, and delivery. The role involves observing, inspecting, measuring, and documenting findings to meet requirements set by food agencies, internal standards, and customer expectations.

Responsibilities

Inspect fresh meat for wholesomeness.Monitor and record weights and temperatures of cooked meat products.Ensure effective operation of production line metal detectors.Verify and record case weights, piece counts, and temperatures of finished products.Check and document information on finished product cases, including code dates and product codes.Collect product samples for lab analysis and conduct sensory testing.Retain and analyze unacceptable or questionable products.Adhere to policies and procedures for meat processing, including Good Manufacturing Practices and HACCP regulations.Maintain a safe and sanitary work environment by following established procedures.Ensure compliance with Good Manufacturing Practices and establishment procedures.Perform special assignments as directed by management.Identify and document quality problems for corrective action to prevent non-conforming products.

Essential Skills

Experience in inspection and food manufacturing.Ability to measure and document quality control processes.Proficiency in quality assurance, inspection, and checks.

Additional Skills & Qualifications

Basic math and computer skills including Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.Comfort with electronic data collection.Dependability, availability for required work hours, and willingness to work weekends and overtime.Detail-oriented with the ability to follow directions and record data accurately.Ability to work under minimal supervision and multitask in a fast-paced environment.Effective communication skills, both verbal and written.Experience in Food Manufacturing, Food Service, and Retail Operations is desired.

Work Environment

Work is performed in an office/production environment with a moderate noise level. Employees frequently lift/push/carry items up to 50 pounds and are often exposed to wet, humid, cold, and hot conditions. The role requires standing and walking near moving mechanical parts.

This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Davenport, Iowa.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $19.00 - $19.00/hr.
