Job Title: QC Chemist

Job Description

We are seeking a QC Chemist to join our team for a 1st shift position, Monday to Friday from 6:30am to 3pm. This role involves performing laboratory tests to evaluate the quality and consistency of finished products, intermediates, and raw materials, ensuring compliance with our quality program.

Responsibilities

Perform laboratory tests on raw materials, products, and finished goods using documented methods.Inform relevant parties of non-conforming products and materials.Exercise judgment in test observations and data, and report results accurately and timely.Calibrate measuring equipment according to the schedule and maintain equipment and workspace.Participate in root cause investigations and adjust out-of-specification batches.Adhere to safety, health, and environmental standards and properly dispose of laboratory waste.Collaborate with Regional Development and Analytical Lab for new or improved test procedures.Follow ISO quality and environmental standards as outlined in procedural manuals.Conduct basic duties such as testing incoming raw material samples, entering data, and filing paperwork.Perform simple lab tests including viscosity, density, and pH measurements.

Essential Skills

Bachelor's Degree in Chemistry or Biochemistry.Basic knowledge of wet chemistry techniques and instrumentation.

Additional Skills & Qualifications

Industry lab experience is a plus.

Work Environment

The role is based in a large lab separate from the manufacturing floor, with a team of four people. Initially, you will work with one other person for the first six months before transitioning to working independently. The lab environment is characterized by laid-back personalities and a moderate to fast-paced workload.

Job Type & Location

This is a Contract position based out of Detroit, MI.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $21.00 - $22.00/hr.
