About the Opportunity
Our client is a well-established industrial coatings company based in Chesapeake, Virginia, with decades of experience supporting industrial and marine projects. They are known for their commitment to safety, quality, and integrity—and are looking to add a skilled QA/QC Inspector to their growing team.
What You’ll Do
As a QA/QC Inspector, you’ll play a critical role in ensuring coating projects meet the highest quality standards. You’ll work closely with field teams to verify surface preparation, coating application, and inspection activities in accordance with AMPP/SSPC standards and project specifications.
Key Responsibilities
Inspect surface preparation and coating application to ensure compliance with project requirements and AMPP standards
Monitor and document environmental conditions before and during coating operations
Measure and record surface profile, cleanliness, and coating thickness
Identify and document coating defects such as holidays, pinholes, runs, sags, or contamination
Complete daily inspection reports and final quality turnover documentation
Maintain calibration records for inspection equipment
Track coating batch numbers and inspection checkpoints
Support and reinforce quality requirements with painters and blasters
What We’re Looking For
AMPP Certified Coatings Inspector (CCI) Level 2 or higher
3–5 years of experience inspecting industrial or marine coatings
Strong understanding of surface preparation and coating standards
Experience with NAVSEA or USACE specifications
Background working in a QP-1 / QS-1 environment, including audit support
Ability to read and interpret coating specifications and drawings
Basic proficiency with Microsoft Word and Excel
Valid driver’s license and ability to pass a background check, obtain base access, and travel as needed
Nice to Have
OSHA 10 or OSHA 30 certification
Work Environment
Industrial job sites, including marine environments
Ability to climb ladders, work in confined spaces, and wear required PPE
