**Position Summary:** The QA/QC Engineer – Marine Works is responsible for implementing and monitoring the project quality management system for marine and coastal infrastructure projects. The role covers inspection, testing, documentation, procedure development, and coordination with site teams, clients, and third parties to ensure all marine works comply with project specifications, codes, and contractual requirements.
**What You'll Be Doing:**
**Quality Management & Planning**
+ Implement the Project Quality Plan, ITPs, and related procedures for all marine works.
+ Develop and review:
+ Inspection and Test Plans (ITPs)
+ Method statements and quality control procedures
+ Checklists, forms, and work instructions specific to marine activities
+ Ensure compliance with ISO $9001$ (and integrated QHSE systems as applicable).
**QA/QC for Marine Construction Activities**
+ Plan and perform inspections for:
+ Dredging and reclamation works
+ Construction of quay walls, jetties, breakwaters, revetments, and berths
+ Underwater concreting, piling, sheet piles, caissons, and scour protection
+ Rock placement, geotextiles, armor units, and precast elements
+ Verify incoming materials (rock, aggregates, concrete, steel, geotextiles, etc.) against approved material submittals and standards.
+ Witness and review:
+ Concrete production and placement tests (slump, cubes, temperature, etc.)
+ Soil, rock, compaction, and bearing tests for reclamation and marine foundations
+ Pile integrity tests, load tests, and other relevant field tests.
**Documentation & Reporting**
+ Prepare and maintain:
+ Inspection reports, NCRs, CARs, and site observations
+ Quality records, test reports, calibration certificates, and traceability documents
+ Review and compile QA/QC dossiers and handover documentation (as-built, O&M manuals, QA/QC records).
+ Maintain updated logs for inspections, tests, NCRs, and corrective actions.
**Non-Conformance, Corrective & Preventive Actions**
+ Identify non-conformities in materials, workmanship, and procedures.
+ Raise NCRs and coordinate root-cause analysis with construction teams.
+ Propose and follow up corrective and preventive actions until closure.
+ Monitor implementation and effectiveness of quality improvement measures.
**Coordination With Stakeholders**
+ Coordinate with:
+ Client/consultant representatives for inspections and approvals
+ Third-party laboratories and testing agencies
+ Subcontractors and suppliers to ensure compliance with quality requirements
+ Participate in technical/quality meetings, inspection walks, and audits.
+ Support interface between marine engineering, construction, and QA/QC teams.
**Audits, Reviews & Continuous Improvement**
+ Assist in internal and external quality audits related to marine projects.
+ Support management reviews by providing quality performance data and trends.
+ Promote best practices in marine construction quality and propose improvements to procedures, ITPs, and checklists.
**What Required Skills You'll Bring:**
+ Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering, Marine/Coastal Engineering, or related field.
+ Minimum 9-12 years of experience in QA/QC roles on marine/civil infrastructure projects, with substantial exposure to:
+ Ports, harbors, jetties, quay walls, breakwaters, revetments, and/or dredging & reclamation projects.
+ Solid understanding of construction techniques and sequences for marine structures and coastal protection.
+ Strong familiarity with international codes and standards (e.g., BS, EN, ACI, ASTM, PIANC) applicable to marine works.
