Purification Supervisor
**THE POSITION** We are looking for a Purification Supervisor to lead a team of technicians in the large scale production of Foot and Mouth Disease and Blue Tongue Virus antigen. This role plays a vital part in ensuring high quality antigen is produced safely, efficiently and in full compliance with GMP, Biosafety and Health & Safety regulations. You will oversee day to day operations within a graded laboratory environment, support continuous improvement, ensure accurate documentation, and contribute to key production and quality processes. This position is essential to delivering high quality antigen used in vaccine manufacturing. You will join a highly skilled team, and contribute to meaningful work, and have opportunities for growth and continuous learning within a leading global organisation. This is a fixed term contract until 31st December 2027. It is based at our manufacturing site in Pirbright and requires full‑time onsite attendance, Monday to Friday. **TASKS & RESPONSIBILITIES** **Production & Team Leadership** • Manage and support a team of technicians within the production area. • Oversee and execute production activities according to defined procedures. • Maintain the laboratory to required GMP and EHS/Biosafety standards. • Ensure accurate completion of production batch records and compliance with SOPs. **Continuous Improvement** • Identify and implement improvements to production methods and equipment through the Change Control process. **Finance & Systems** • Approve invoices and complete data entry/stock movement in SAP/GBS. • Plan stock usage and raise orders. **GMP & Quality** • Act as a Subject Matter Expert (SME) during internal and external audits. • Generate and close CAPAs, change controls and investigations for deviations and OOS events. • Update SOPs and ensure timely documentation completion. • Collaborate with QA to provide information for audits. **REQUIREMENTS** • Experience in a pharmaceutical production or similarly regulated environment. • Experience with purification ideally proteins • Ability to follow detailed instructions and work with precision. • Strong organisational and time management skills. • Ability to work independently and collaboratively. • Effective verbal and written communication skills. • A positive, solutions focused approach. • Proficiency in Microsoft Office • Experience completing deviation or incident investigations • Degree in Applied Biology, Microbiology or related field **WHY THIS IS A GREAT PLACE TO WORK** Boehringer Ingelheim has been recognised as a Top Employer in the UK.
