**Job Title: Purchasing Agent I** **Schedule:** Monday – Friday, 6:00 AM – 2:30 PM (Overtime may be required) **Pay Range:** $29.52 – $34.18 per hour **Position Overview:** We are currently seeking a **Purchasing Agent I** to support our manufacturing operations with timely procurement of raw materials, hardware, supplies, and outside processing services. This is a **high-paced, demanding role** where success depends on the ability to multitask, stay organized, communicate professionally, and take initiative with minimal oversight. **What We're Looking For:** Our ideal candidate meets the following specifications: + **Purchasing Experience:** Prior purchasing experience is required. Experience purchasing in a manufacturing environment is strongly preferred. + **Thrives Under Pressure:** This is a fast-moving, high-demand role. Candidates must be able to manage stress and maintain accuracy under tight deadlines. + **Self-Starter:** We need someone who is highly motivated, proactive, and able to work independently with minimal direction. + **Professionalism:** Strong written and verbal communication skills are a must. This role requires polished, professional correspondence with both internal and external stakeholders. + **Education:** Associate or Bachelor’s degree is preferred, but not required if the candidate has solid hands-on purchasing experience. **Key Responsibilities:** + Maintain a reliable and uninterrupted supply chain for assigned materials. + Place and manage purchase orders, ensuring on-time, complete deliveries. + Monitor and follow up on past due orders; communicate any delays or shortages to leadership. + Work closely with suppliers to resolve quality or delivery issues quickly and effectively. + Negotiate pricing, terms, and delivery conditions to optimize cost and efficiency. + Track supplier performance and hold vendors accountable for meeting service levels. + Utilize ERP/MRP systems to manage procurement data, lead times, quantities, and delivery schedules. + Support new product development by adding and structuring items in the system. + Continuously assess market conditions to inform sourcing decisions. + Perform additional duties as assigned to support departmental goals. **Qualifications:** + **Experience:** + 3–5 years of purchasing/procurement experience required. + Previous experience in a manufacturing setting strongly preferred. + **Education:** + Associate or Bachelor’s degree preferred, but not required. + **Technical Skills:** + Proficiency with ERP/MRP systems (e.g., inventory management, order tracking). + Strong Excel and documentation skills. + **Certifications:** + APICS (CPIM) and/or NAPM (C.P.M.) certifications preferred; required within two years of hire. + **Soft Skills:** + Detail-oriented, organized, and strong at multitasking. + Effective communicator, especially under pressure. + Professional demeanor in all forms of communication. **Pre-Employment Requirements:** Employment is contingent upon successful completion of a **pre-employment drug screen and background check** .
