Job Description

REPORTING:

PRE-REQUISITE/QUALIFICATION:

High School Diploma (U.S.)/ Proof of Completion of Formal Education or Relevant Craft Certificate (where applicable)Successful Military Discharge – Preferred for U.S.Graduate of Trade School or University where knowledge and training acquired are applicable to job requirements – PreferredValid medical examination and vaccination certificatesKnowledge of all technical standards required for the safe operation of the drilling equipmentNorway Specific: Must hold qualifications in accordance with relevant authority requirements and the requirements of the Havtil ref. Activities Regulations.

OPERATIONAL DISCIPLINE REQUIREMENTS:

Disciplined application and participation in the Task Planning & Risk Assessment Process.Understanding and perform the roles and responsibilities as assigned at the pre-job meeting.Understanding the hazards associated with the task.Understanding and effectively implementing the control measures required to mitigate identified hazards.Execute all tasks and task steps in a disciplined manner, following the sequence detailed in the relevant procedures.Recognize at risk behavior or conditions during tasks and call ‘Time out for Safety’ when unsure, or when the job does not go as planned.Participate in After Action Reviews to feedback lessons learned from performing the task.   

HSE REQUIREMENTS:

Protect personnel, the environment, and assets by eliminating hazards and reducing health and safety risks.Understand Company OI & HSE requirements applicable to the job position. Execute work in accordance with Company OI & HSE requirements.Call a Time Out when a real or perceived at risk behavior or unsafe condition is observed. Use WorkSight ENGAGE during the execution of planned work. Report all incidents, potential hazards, or abnormal situations to a supervisor. Incorporate the Control of Work process into all work, whether working alone or as part of a team. Understand and implement major accident barriers / controls applicable to the job position. Maintain a safe and organized work area throughout and on completion of all work. Understand your role in an emergency, as designated in the Emergency Response Plan and Station Bill. Participate in all emergency drills and exercises, as required.

DUTIES:

The underlying expectation is that all duties are carried out in compliance with the Company Operational Discipline expectations and HSE requirements. When considering assignment of duties for the Pumphand, the Supervisor and the Pumphand apply the Control of Work process to determine if the assigned role is appropriate. This means confirming that the individuals involved have the knowledge, skills, and experience to carry out the task, and the task plan complies with policy before they are authorized to proceed.           

         

GENERAL DUTIES:

Operations/Maintenance:

Monitor the weight, viscosity, pH, and solids content of the drilling fluid. Keep records and notify supervisors of any irregularities.Understand the effects that various chemical additives have on the properties and condition of the drilling fluid.Monitor the mud pumps and mud pits during operations. Report any unexplained pit level increase/decrease to the Driller.Participate in pre-job meeting with the drilling crew for all non-routine drilling operations.Check and monitor oil levels of machinery in areas such as mud pump room and mud processing area and change or add oils when necessary.Maintain daily log of drilling chemicals and mud materials.Line up mud pumps, mud pits and flow paths with valves as required; Ensure full understanding compliance with instructions given.Perform daily maintenance on all mud pumping and mud mixing equipment. Ensure permit to work and isolation procedures are followed.Achieve competency to operate forklift, gantry crane and/or manual dolly to transport sacks of dry chemical additives as required to maintain correct drilling fluid properties.Operate all drilling fluid handling and treatment equipment in the pump/pit room in accordance with operational requirements; Mix and treat drilling fluid as per Mud Engineer’s instruction.Assist in completing mud reports and daily activity report in logbooks and IADC report.Maintain records of mud pump hours.
