Position Summary

Supervise and provide direction and guidance to production employees. Monitor performance of production equipment and perform maintenance at the assigned plant.

Essential Job Functions Supervise production activities including coordinating workers engaged in processing and/or product development; provide production reports to support process improvement. Coordinate work schedules, staffing requirements, and production sequences to maximize productivity; may recruit, hire, train, evaluate performance, and recommend or initiate promotions, transfers, and disciplinary actions. Maintain inventory records and requisition ingredients and supplies as necessary to meet delivery schedules; evaluate materials and products to ensure organizational standards are met. Troubleshoot and resolve process, equipment, and material issues in collaboration with machine operators and support staff. Review and finalize production paperwork including production reports, work order documentation, safety and sanitation documents, and quality records. Coach and counsel associates while enforcing process controls, policies, and procedures; train new workers on the operation of equipment. Other duties as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications High School Diploma, GED or equivalent. One year of production experience or a combination of leadership and production experience. One year of leadership experience or relevant Sigma experience.

 

Preferred Qualifications Two years of production experience. Two years of leadership experience. Knowledge of food safety practices (HACCP, GMPs, SOPs, SSOPs, SQF).

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities (KSAs) Ability to become forklift/pallet jack certified. Ability to understand Quality Standards, SSOPs, prerequisite programs, and HACCP requirements. Proficiency with Microsoft Outlook, Word, and Excel. Ability to work efficiently and accurately under pressure; meet deadlines; maintain a professional demeanor; work independently and within a team environment.

Environmental / Working Conditions Ability to work overnight shifts, weekends, holidays, and 1st, 2nd, and 3rd shifts. Ability to work in temperatures ranging from 35°F to 95°F, with occasional exposure above 95°F.

Physical Requirements Regularly required to stand and use hands and fingers in repetitive motion. Frequently required to walk and reach above the head. Occasionally required to stoop, bend, kneel, crouch, crawl, talk, or hear. Required to lift a minimum of 10 lbs. Vision requirements include close vision, color vision, depth perception, and ability to focus. Exposure to moving mechanical parts, chemicals, fumes, and airborne particles. Noise levels range from normal office levels to loud factory/warehouse environments.
