Position Summary

This position reports to the DVP Procurement and is responsible for managing all aspects of Sigma US Meat Procurement activities, including sourcing global meat proteins, maintaining the Value Managed Relationship (VMR) Program with key suppliers, and monitoring the protein markets to report trends and significant events to senior leadership.

Essential Job Functions  Manage the entire global meat protein spend for Sigma (approx. $300M). Partner with Mexico’s meat procurement group to coordinate North American meat procurement strategy and share real-time U.S. market conditions. Manage negotiated agreements and pricing with meat vendors; lead decision-making on vendor selection and management. Create and manage the annual and long‑term protein sourcing plan aligned to business growth strategy, including forecasts and pricing/profitability planning. Oversee Raw Material reporting and supplier scorecards; recommend improvements and evaluate replacement vendors when performance is low. Evaluate, enhance, and manage the Value Managed Relationships (VMR) program, including high‑level supplier business reviews and internal cross‑functional coordination. Prepare reports and analyses with recommendations for Executive Committee decisions related to budgets, forecasts, pricing, and profitability. Develop and manage the Risk Management program, including forecasting pricing trends and determining hedging positions (e.g., forward pricing or freezer strategies). Manage supplier claims involving rejected, damaged, or non‑compliant products. Develop and manage the new meat procurement team. Other duties as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications Bachelor’s degree in Management, Business, or related field 5+ years of experience in a procurement role 2 years of procurement leadership experience managing staff, budgets, and negotiation responsibilities Preferred: MBA or related advanced degree 8+ years of experience in the meat/food industry Active industry certification

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities (KSAs) Skills in procurement, scheduling, and negotiation Proficiency with Microsoft products and advanced Excel Ability to use forecasting and data analysis for business planning Strong problem‑solving skills and sound decision‑making capability Ability to communicate across functions and business units at all management levels Strong business judgment with high credibility

Physical Requirements

Usual office environment with frequent sitting, walking, and standing; occasional climbing, stooping, kneeling, crouching, crawling, and balancing. Frequent use of hand‑eye coordination for office equipment. Oral and auditory capacity for interpersonal and telephone communication.
