Job Summary

The Publications Specialist ensures the accuracy, clarity, and consistency of organizational documentation. This role combines editorial expertise with document management skills to maintain high standards for published materials. The Publications Specialist edits, formats, and proofreads technical documentation while managing document lifecycle processes with organizational standards and accessibility requirements.

Key ResponsibilitiesReview, edit, and proofread documentation for grammar, style, clarity, consistency and 508 compliance.Ensure adherence to organizational style guides.Collaborate with subject matter experts to clarify technical content and improve readability.Format documents to ensure consistency in layout and structure.Create and maintain Microsoft Word templates.Lead the organization of Document Management activities.Ensure all published materials meet accessibility standards.Assist with incorporating graphics to enhance clarity and engagement.Ensure all graphics meet accessibility standards, including alternative text descriptions.Write and maintain documents such as Standard Operating Procedures, and Document Management Plans.Interfaces with Configuration Management (CM) to ensure document management processes integrate with the CM tools and processes.Organize and maintain document repositories, ensuring version control and proper archiving.Monitor document management processes to ensure compliance with organizational requirements.Provide assistance and training on document management processes and tools.Develops and maintains Stakeholder Communications documentation and procedures.Provides guidance to the projects regarding technical editing of documents.Maintains the tool(s) used to store LSDS documentation. Investigates and develops new solutions when needed.Interfaces with CM to ensure document management processes integrate with the CM tools and processes to ensure accurate configuration control and records archive of LSDS documentation.Required QualificationsEducation & Experience: Bachelor’s degree (BA/BS) and a minimum of 6 years of relevant experience.Excellent written and verbal communication, interpersonal, and leadership skills.Strong editing and proofreading skills with attention to detail.Excellent organizational skills.Proficiency with relevant software tools and systems, such as Adobe Pro, MS Word, MS Excel, MS PowerPoint, SharePoint, DocuShare, etc.Ability to manage multiple projects and meet deadlines.Ability to obtain and maintain a background clearance for badging purposes.Must meet the three-year continuous U.S. residency requirement.Preferred QualificationsExperience supporting government or aerospace programs.Familiarity with NASA or similar technical documentation standards.Advance skills in administrating document management systems.Experience with graphic editing tools.Experience with Atlassian tools is a plus.Work Environment & Additional InformationThis position may require occasional travel.Work is primarily performed in an office setting with standard business hours.Competitive compensation and comprehensive benefits package offered.
