Public Sector Attorney - Vice President, Assistant General Counsel

As a Public Sector Attorney in the Payments Legal Team, you will provide strategic legal guidance and advisory support to our business partners, and lead negotiations with public sector clients. You will collaborate closely with other legal experts, business partners and cross-functional teams to deliver practical solutions and manage complex client engagements. In addition to client-facing work, you will help drive operational excellence by working across legal lines of business to enhance internal practices and implement innovative technological solutions.

Job responsibilities

Draft and negotiate a wide range of documentation for Public Sector customers of Wholesale Payments.Advise businesses on transaction structures, and legal and regulatory issues.Serve as product counsel for new or commercial payment product offerings being developed or offered to Public Sector customers.Ensure customer-facing documentation is clear and compliant with applicable laws and regulations.  Review and advise on the scope and applicability of Federal Acquisition Regulations.

Required qualifications, capabilities, and skills

Licensed attorney and minimum 5 years of experience with a major law firm, financial institution, or judicial clerkshipProficient in Public Sector contracts, specifically federal contracting including FAR and NAFI based contractsProven and effective negotiation skills and ability to communicate with internal and external customersStrong knowledge of the False Claims ActExcellent organization, business communication and time management skills

Preferred qualifications, capabilities, and skills

Knowledge and experience with SAM.gov registration, bid protests, and other annual certificationsUnderstanding of banking laws, including UCC Articles 4 and 4AKnowledge of wholesale payments products and servicesExperience contracting with federal agencies and managing/advising flow-down obligations and subcontractor oversightAbility to write well and communicate effectively to both legal and non-legal professionals, including senior executives of the firmAbility to build and maintain good client and colleague relationships
