Public Finance Program Associate - West Region

Public Finance Investment Banking offers a full-service Investment Banking platform responsible for originating and structuring transactions for States, local governments, and not-for-profit clients. We provide capital raising solutions for governments, education & nonprofit and nonprofit healthcare institutions

About This Role:

The Public Finance Program Associate will support the West region coverage team and help manage client relationships, development business opportunities, and execute transactions, including derivatives.  The associate will be part of deal teams that include senior and junior team members. The associate will build a network of influence among municipal market professionals including, among others, bond lawyers, credit providers, financial advisors, rating agencies, and key industry vendors (e.g. public accounting firms). Issuers will include governmental agencies, K-12 school districts and higher education institutions.


In this role, you will:

Preparing detailed cash flow analysis to support transaction execution

Creating pitch books

Drafting responses for Requests for Proposals (RFPs)

Leading due diligence meetings

Working closely with internal and external counsel to negotiate legal documentation

Working closely with internal partners to manage internal compliance requirements

Maintaining client relationships; including screening potential finance solutions

Present recommendations for resolving more complex situations and exercise independent judgment while developing expertise in policies, procedures and compliance requirements

Collaborate and consult with functional colleagues, internal partners and stakeholders, including internal and external customers


Required Qualifications:

2+ years of Investment Banking Program experience, or equivalent demonstrated through one or a combination of the following: work experience, training, military experience, education


Desired Qualifications:

Master's or bachelor's degree in business, finance, or accounting OR 2+ years of relevant work experience.

Ability to develop and maintain strong relationships with internal and external clients.

High attention to detail and accuracy

Experience reading, negotiating, and/or interpreting legal documents

Leadership experience and/or experience training others in a relevant professional capacity

An energetic self-starter who is detail-oriented with strong quantitative skills and enjoys working in a team environment; ability to work with little direct supervision and thrive in a high energy environment

Strong knowledge and understanding of the municipal bond market

Experience and expertise running cash flows using DBC

Very comfortable and efficient in Excel.  Experience writing formulas; organizing, analyzing, and formatting data; and recognizing and auditing errors.

Able to review and interpret financial statements.

Analytical thinker.  Able to make decisions and recommendations that are well-reasoned.

High level of personal motivation. Does more than what is asked for and anticipates questions/issues.

Ability to manage a high-volume workload while maintaining excellence and consistency of work.  Ability to quickly change focus and stay organized is a must.


Job Expectations:

Registration for FINRA SIE must be completed within 90 days of hire date if it is not available for transfer upon hire. FINRA recognized equivalents will be accepted.

Registration for FINRA Series 52 Top-Off must be completed within 90 days of hire date if it is not available for transfer upon hire. FINRA recognized equivalents will be accepted.

Registration for FINRA Series 63 must be completed within 90 days of hire date if it is not available for transfer upon hire. FINRA recognized equivalents will be accepted.

Job Expectations:

Obtaining and/or maintaining appropriate Financial Industry Regulatory Authority (FINRA) license(s) is required for ongoing employment in this position.  Additional requirements include meeting enhanced financial fitness and criminal background standards. Pay Range
 

Reflected is the base pay range offered for this position. Pay may vary depending on factors including but not limited to demonstrated examples of prior performance, skills, experience, or work location. Employees may also be eligible for incentive opportunities.

$150,000.00 - $250,000.00
