Under immediate supervision, this position is responsible for assisting the Director of Tourism Development & Strategic Alliances in coordinating logistics, marketing and overall concept for seasonal Visit El Paso special events.
MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES:
Reports to Director of Tourism Development & Strategic AlliancesExecuting logistics, vendor Relations, & marketing dutiesAssists with overall plan and concept of eventsAssists in creating sponsorship presentationsAssists in coordinating sponsorship executionWorks to follow event budgetsExecutes administrative duties, miscellaneousCoordinates volunteer groups, charity groups, artists, & entertainers at eventsResearch and books special features to enhance event atmosphere/experienceSeeks and sells booth space to retail, arts, and craft vendorsOrganizes financial and contractual paperworkWorks with F&B team to solidify food & beverage trucks/vendorsCoordinates with Marketing Team to design & order event merchandise (staff & on sale)Prepare sponsor and media benefit packagesPrepares vendor & partner credential packetsAssists in coordinating vendor and equipment set-up and tear down plansCoordinates on site execution of vendors, volunteers, charity groups, talent, artists, etc.Works to submit all event related permit applicationsQUALIFICATIONS:

EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE:
High School diploma or equivalent required; course work in event management, hospitality, recreational, or a related field preferred. 2-4 years related experience in event coordination, customer service or hospitality is a plus. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills. Strong organizational and Time management skills.
WORKING CONDITIONS:
Activities occur both inside and outside facility; some exposure to adverse weather conditions; ability to work flexible hours, as needed, which may include nights, weekends or holidays. Standing for long periods is normal and walking during events is expected. Ability to lift and carry up to 50 pounds and must have a valid driver’s license.
