Position Summary Information Position Summary The Psychology Program is seeking applicants for a full-time tenure-track position beginning August 2026 at the rank of Assistant Professor. The Psychology program, within the Department of Psychology, Social Work, and Recreational Therapy, is strategically located in the College of Health Professions, which offers an excellent education for students seeking to enter the health and/or mental health fields. Our mission includes providing high-quality undergraduate education, leading to diverse post-graduate and career pathways. Psychology offers ten different major programs, including pre-counseling, developmental, neuroscience, pre-physician assistant, pre-occupational therapy, and others as well as general tracks, enabling students to focus on areas of interest and refine their goals. We seek to engage students in interdisciplinary research and provide leadership opportunities to enable them to develop their skills. The full-time tenure-track position is for a 9-month contract, with regular opportunities for optional summer and winter teaching. Competitive internal grant opportunities, travel reimbursement for professional conferences, and professional development support are also widely available. The applicant will have a 4/4 teaching load of undergraduate courses. Assigned courses may include Introduction to Psychology, Personality, Abnormal Psychology, Psychopathology of Childhood and Adolescence, Psychopathology of Adulthood, Clinical Psychology, Psychological Testing, Theories of Counseling, Field Placement and Community Service Internship, and others. Faculty members are encouraged to align their teaching, research, and service activities commensurate with their interests and professional goals. There are a multitude of opportunities to create interdisciplinary communities and partnerships in the program and department, at the college and university levels, and within the larger community. Minimum Qualifications Doctoral degree in Psychology (i.e., Ph.D. or Psy.D.) is required. ABD applications are encouraged; the Ph.D. or Psy.D. must be completed by August 1, 2026. The candidate for the position must: have the ability to establish an active research program, with a commitment to mentoring undergraduate students in research; demonstrate a commitment to the education of diverse populations; show dedication to department and university service; have experience with and/or demonstrate a commitment to implementing APA -style writing across the curriculum. Successful performance in an on-campus interview, research presentation, and teaching demonstration on a topic area chosen by the search committee are required. Area of focus and specialization is open, but we particularly encourage those with clinical or counseling degrees from APA -accredited programs or experience with clinical populations or the provision of mental health services. Preferred Qualifications Candidates with one or more of the following experiences will be an especially good fit for the program: university-level teaching experience, especially for face-to-face classes and/or formal training in higher education teaching; specific experience teaching the courses listed under responsibilities; graduate level coursework in clinical or counseling psychology; experience or knowledge related to interprofessional education in preparing undergraduate students for future careers in the health and/or mental health care fields.
