US Got People (USGP) is seeking a qualified Psychiatric Technician to join our team and provide care to military service members, veterans, and their families at the Naval Medical Readiness and Training Unit (NMRTU) Dahlgren. Position Highlights:
• Schedule: Monday to Friday, between 7:00 AM – 6:30 PM
• Compensation: Competitive pay + health and welfare stipend
• Work Environment: Federal healthcare facility
Qualifications:
Education & Certification:
• Certificate from an accredited Psychiatric Technician Program;
OR
• Equivalent education and experience that meets the standards of the American Association of Psychiatric Technicians;
OR
• Completed psychiatric technician training as a behavioral science specialist/technician in the U.S. military, or a civilian course from an accredited school focusing on behavioral health care.
• Basic Life Support certification is required.
Experience:
• Minimum 1 year of experience working as a Psychiatric Technician post-graduation.
Immunization Requirements: (Must be current or willing to obtain prior to start)
• Hepatitis B (series and titer)
• Tdap (Tetanus, Diphtheria, Pertussis)
• MMR (Measles, Mumps, Rubella)
• Varicella (Chickenpox)
• TB (Tuberculosis) test
• Seasonal Influenza vaccine
• COVID-19 vaccine (if applicable)
You will play a vital role in the assessment, treatment, and rehabilitation of patients, including:
• Performing initial assessments: standardized psychological testing, clinical interviews, mental status exams, and substance abuse evaluations.
• Identifying mental health and nursing diagnoses.
• Educating patients and families about treatment and care.
• Monitoring and documenting patient progress.
• Leading or assisting with individual and group therapy sessions.
• Ensuring safety measures to prevent injury or suicide.
• Assisting with daily living activities such as nutrition, hygiene, and comfort.
• Obtaining and recording vital signs.
• Coordinating care with military, community, and healthcare agencies.
• Explaining mental health services and assisting with referrals.
• Supporting individuals with acute stress and post-traumatic stress reactions.
• Maintaining accurate treatment records and documentation.
