Provider Onboarding Specialist
Job Description Job Summary

The Provider Onboarding Specialist coordinates onboarding activities for newly hired providers to support timely, compliant, and well-organized transitions into practice. This role serves as a primary point of contact for providers and internal partners, ensuring onboarding tasks, documentation, and operational readiness requirements are completed accurately and within established timelines. The Specialist works collaboratively with recruitment, credentialing, payer enrollment, and operational teams to track progress, resolve routine issues, and deliver a consistent onboarding experience that supports provider engagement and operational effectiveness.

Essential FunctionsCoordinates provider onboarding activities following offer acceptance and serves as a primary contact for onboarding-related questions. Utilizes onboarding systems and tools to submit applications, track progress, and maintain accurate documentation. Monitors onboarding milestones across credentialing, licensing, enrollment, and operational readiness workstreams to support timely provider start dates. Communicates regularly with providers and internal stakeholders to provide status updates and ensure completion of required tasks. Collaborates with licensing, credentialing, and payer enrollment teams to gather and process required documentation. Identifies routine onboarding delays or issues and escalates concerns to leadership as appropriate. Coordinates onboarding meetings, communications, and checklists to ensure consistent processes across locations. Partners with operational teams to confirm site readiness, including scheduling, access, equipment, and orientation logistics. Maintains onboarding records, tracking metrics, and documentation to support reporting and process improvement. Participates in efforts to standardize workflows and enhance onboarding efficiency. Travels occasionally as needed to support onboarding activities or team meetings.Performs other duties as assigned. Maintains regular and reliable attendance. Complies with all policies and standards.QualificationsBachelor's Degree in Healthcare Administration, Business, or related field required A combination of education and related experience may be considered in lieu of a degree 2-4 years of experience supporting provider onboarding, credentialing, healthcare operations, or related administrative workflows required Experience working with onboarding, HRIS, credentialing, or workflow tracking systems to maintain records and monitor progress preferred Knowledge, Skills and AbilitiesKnowledge of provider onboarding, credentialing, licensing, and payer enrollment processes within healthcare organizations. Ability to manage multiple onboarding workflows and prioritize tasks in a deadline-driven environment. Strong organizational and documentation skills with attention to detail. Ability to communicate effectively with providers and cross-functional teams. Ability to follow established procedures and escalate issues appropriately. Proficiency with Microsoft 365 and onboarding, HRIS, or workflow tracking systems.
