Job Title: Protection and Control EngineerJob Description
The primary responsibility of this position will be to support the development of protective relay settings for distribution feeder breakers within transmission substations. Our team requires a dedicated engineering resource to manage the increasing requests for relay settings changes due to the substantial capital investment in our distribution system.
Responsibilities
+ Verify and update distribution substation short circuit models using CAPE.
+ Populate calculation sheets and solicit feedback from the Distribution engineering team.
+ Perform time overcurrent coordination studies of distribution substation power transformers and breakers.
+ Review distribution substation protective relay logic and control drawings.
Essential Skills
+ Bachelor’s degree in Engineering or Engineering Technology, preferably with an electrical emphasis.
+ Experience in performing protective relay calculations and coordination studies.
+ Proficiency in using power system simulation software such as CAPE, CYME, ASPEN, EDSA, or ETAP.
+ Knowledge of substation protective relay testing and control scheme testing.
+ Understanding of transmission and/or distribution substation operations.
Additional Skills & Qualifications
+ Courses in Power System Analysis, Protective Relaying, Control Systems, Electric Machine Theory, and Symmetrical Components are beneficial.
Work Environment
This position offers a hybrid work environment in a cubicle setting, where team collaboration is emphasized. The role is full-time and functions as an integral part of the engineering consultant team.
Job Type & Location
This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Forest Park, GA.
Pay and Benefits
The pay range for this position is $39.00 - $45.00/hr.
