Property Accountant

Job Description

We are seeking a detail-oriented and proactive Property Accountant to join our dynamic team. This role involves handling month-end journal entries and ensuring financial statements accurately reflect results in accordance with Generally Accepted Accounting Principles. You will coordinate the distribution of financial information among various parties and ensure compliance with internal controls.

Responsibilities

Complete all month-end journal entries to ensure financial statements are accurate and comprehensive.Coordinate the distribution of financial information to internal and external parties, including lending institutions.Ensure compliance with SOX-directed internal controls through appropriate reviews.Prepare monthly bank reconciliations and documents for month-end financial reviews.Assist with audit requests and prepare acquisition journal entries for new properties.Calculate straight-line rent and manage lender escrow reimbursements.Update budget information as requested and consider new ways to improve efficiency in roles and responsibilities.Perform other ad hoc analyses and support audit requests.

Essential Skills

3-5+ years of accrual accounting experienceProficiency in Excel, including the use of pivot tables and VLOOKUP functionsEagerness to learn and adaptability to new accounting processesExperience with real estate and property management software such as Yardi or MRIBachelor's degree in accounting

Additional Skills & Qualifications

Experience in property accounting, particularly commercial propertyBackground in working with leases and common area maintenance (CAM) feesExperience in public company or REIT environmentsBachelor's degree in accounting or finance

Work Environment

The position is on-site, Monday through Friday from 8 AM to 5 PM. Once permanent, the role allows for one remote workday per week. The position requires being fully on-site during the contract phase due to the nature of the work in a public company.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $26.44 - $36.06/hr.
