Commercial Property Accountant
Job Description
We are seeking a dedicated and detail-oriented Property Accountant to join our team. This role involves managing month-end journal entries and ensuring financial statements accurately reflect results according to Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP) for assigned properties. The ideal candidate will coordinate the distribution of financial information, ensure compliance with SOX-directed internal controls, and prepare essential financial documents.
Responsibilities
+ Prepare and manage all month-end journal entries to ensure financial statements reflect actual and complete results in accordance with GAAP for all assigned properties.
+ Coordinate the distribution of financial information among internal and external parties, including lending institutions.
+ Ensure compliance with SOX-directed internal controls through appropriate reviews.
+ Prepare monthly bank reconciliations and documents for month-end financial reviews.
+ Assist with audit requests and perform ad hoc analysis as needed.
+ Prepare straight-line rent calculations, acquisition journal entries for new properties, and lender escrow reimbursements.
+ Update budget information as requested.
+ Continuously seek new ways to perform roles and responsibilities more effectively and efficiently.
Essential Skills
+ 3-5+ years of accrual accounting experience.
+ Proficiency in Excel with the ability to use pre-built pivot tables and VLOOKUPs.
+ Eagerness to learn and trainable, preferably with a proven history of learning new accounting processes.
+ Experience with real estate accounting, particularly with property management software such as Yardi or MRI.
+ Bachelor's degree in Accounting.
Additional Skills & Qualifications
+ Experience in property accounting, particularly in commercial properties, is highly preferred.
+ Experience working with leases and public company or REIT experience is advantageous.
Work Environment
The position requires working on-site from Monday to Friday, 8 AM to 5 PM, while on contract. Once permanent, employees can work remotely one day a week. Due to access to sensitive financial information and being a public company, contractors must work on-site.

Pay and Benefits
The pay range for this position is $26.44 - $36.06/hr.
