Project Surveyor

Job Title: Surveyor

Job Description

We are seeking a highly skilled Surveyor with 7-10 years of experience to support solar and wind farm projects. The ideal candidate will have experience in power and utility projects, although this is not a strict requirement. The role involves coordinating field crew activities, ensuring data accuracy, and assisting with budgeting and project schedules.

Responsibilities

Coordinate daily activities of at least one field crew and/or survey technician.Analyze and review work of survey crews to verify data accuracy at survey sites.Assist project managers with budgeting, project cost control, and meeting project schedules.Process and file survey data files, field notes, photos, and sketches.Perform CAD work to create and finalize survey drawings.Use Excel and survey programs to process and verify data, and run reports.Perform daily downloads of data collector files.Research deeds and maps, perform boundary analysis, and make determinations.Calculate heights, depths, relative positions, property lines, and terrain characteristics.Prepare all data, charts, plots, maps, records, and documents related to surveys.Perform calculations and interpret design plans for construction staking.Prepare cut sheets for field crews and write legal descriptions.Maintain exceptional internal and external client relations.All other duties as assigned.

Essential Skills

Bachelor’s degree in Land Surveying or equivalent education and experience.CST level two or equivalent education and experience required.Minimum four years of applicable experience.Proficiency in AutoCAD and MicroStation.Experience with field to finish procedures, ALTA/NSPS Land Title Standards, and GPS data processing.Ability to create and analyze legal descriptions.Valid driver’s license and ability to travel to corporate offices and project sites.Exceptional written, presentation, and interpersonal communication skills.Ability to work efficiently under tight deadlines and balance multiple projects.

Additional Skills & Qualifications

SIT or PS license preferred.Field experience as a Chief Field Surveyor is a plus.Experience with project management, budgeting, and cost control.Resourceful, action-oriented, creative, and analytical thinker.Strong planning, organization, preparation, and execution capabilities.Open to new ideas, innovation, and change.Strong problem-solving and analytical skills.

Work Environment

This position primarily operates in an office environment with occasional site visits. The typical workweek is 40-50 hours. The team consists of 8 field crews and 7 office staff. The work culture values dynamic, daring, and diverse problem-solving approaches, focusing on client-centric solutions and community goals.

Job Type & Location

This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Plymouth, MI.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $33.65 - $38.00/hr.
