Project Specialist – Commissary Operations

Job Title: Project Manager – Commissary Operations

Reports To: Director of Commissary Operations

Job Summary:

We are seeking a results-driven Project Manager to lead operational projects at our commissary facility in Minnesota. This commissary is responsible for preparing, packaging, and distributing frozen and fresh food items to multiple retail outlets daily. The Project Manager will oversee projects related to production optimization, logistics coordination, regulatory compliance, and facility improvements to ensure efficiency, quality, and scalability.

Key Responsibilities:

Plan, coordinate, and manage projects to improve commissary operations, including food production workflows, packaging systems, inventory control, and distribution to retail storesWork closely with operations, warehouse teams, and supply chain to ensure on-time delivery of fresh food itemsManage new product rollouts, facility upgrades, equipment installations, and process improvement initiativesTrack and report on key project metrics, including production efficiency, shrink, delivery accuracy, and labor utilizationWork with global supply chain to complete requests for pricingCoordinate with Global Food Teams to complete testing of new itemsAssist with procurement planning, vendor coordination, and compliance trackingManage project budgets, timelines, and resource allocation

Qualifications:

Bachelor’s degree in Project Management, Business, or Operations Management is preferred but not necessary3+ years of project or operations management experience in food production, commissary, or convenience retail preferredUnderstanding of convenience store foodservice operations and supply chain logisticsExperience with food safety protocols (e.g., HACCP, FDA, Federal Department of Agriculture regulations)Proficiency in project management tools (e.g., Asana, Monday.com, Smartsheet) and MS Office SuiteStrong leadership, communication, and problem-solving skillsAbility to adapt to a fast-paced, high-volume food production environmentBilingual (English/Spanish or English/Somali) a plus

Work Environment:

On-site at a commercial food production and packaging facilityWill occasionally travel to convenience store locations for audits, feedback, or implementation supportMay involve standing, walking, and light lifting in a refrigerated environment
