The Project Principal – Healthcare is a key leadership role within the Canada East Architecture group, responsible for driving excellence in healthcare projects of varying scales and procurement models. This role requires a seasoned professional with extensive consulting experience in healthcare architecture, capable of delivering high-quality solutions while balancing design integrity, technical leadership, and client engagement.
Key Responsibilities
As Project Principal – Healthcare, your role will include:
Providing technical leadership and embedding design integrity throughout the project lifecycle.Translating business requirements into technical and design solutions.Engaging with stakeholders and technical teams to align project outcomes with user needs.Leading project design, delivery, and coordination from pre-design through construction administration.Directing and coordinating single or multi-disciplinary teams through all project phases, from initiation to close-out.Managing projects of varying size, complexity, and technical scope.Overseeing projects concurrently, ensuring alignment with client expectations and business objectives.Establishing and maintaining client relationships, contributing to marketing, contract negotiations, and project strategy.Leading design and production meetings with internal and external stakeholders.Supporting Business Development efforts led by the Health Director.Tracking financial performance, adjusting work efforts as needed to align with budgets and schedules.Collaborating with Accounting, Operations, and Business leadership for periodic project reviews.Supporting implementation of QA/QC procedures to maintain design and construction quality standards.Mentoring and supervising project teams.Preferred QualificationsPMP certification (an asset).Experience with DROFUS and other software integrating with BIM.Experience in BIM workflows, with REVIT proficiencyStrong command of Microsoft Office, estimating/scheduling software, and project management tools.Diversity of healthcare experience from acute to post-acute and long-term care.Required Qualifications
Bachelor's degree in Architecture 15 years related experience A minimum 7 years project management experience Registered Architect Must have experience on large-scale projects Must be able to lead a team on projects and make client presentations Experience with Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Project) Extensive knowledge and experience within the local and regional market Strong team leadership, mentoring, motivational/organizational and people skills Excellent written and verbal communication skills Must be willing to travel An attitude and commitment to being an active participant of our employee-owned culture is a must
