Project Manager Procurement

Job Description

Title: Project Manager - Procurement

As a Project Procurement Manager, you will be responsible for representing all procurement-related interests within complex, cross-functional development projects. Acting as a sub-project lead for procurement, you will play a key role in ensuring that cost, quality, and timeline requirements are fully integrated into project decisions. Your focus will lie in conducting value analyses, identifying and implementing cost-optimization measures, and supporting make-or-buy strategies to ensure long-term competitiveness. The role requires close collaboration with engineering, project management, suppliers, and internal procurement teams.

Key Accountabilities:

Representation of Procurement Interests in Projects

Serve as the primary procurement representative within assigned projects, ensuring alignment with overarching procurement strategies.Act as a sub-project leader for procurement topics, providing professional guidance, risk assessments, and decision recommendations to project management.Ensure procurement-related requirements (cost targets, supplier strategies, commercial risks) are appropriately considered in all project milestones.

Value Analysis, Cost Optimization & Make-or-Buy

Lead and organize value analysis workshops with cross-functional teams to identify cost-reduction opportunities at the component and system level.Drive implementation of cost-saving measures, from idea generation through validation and supplier negotiation.Monitor and report on cost-reduction progress, risks, and achieved savings throughout the project lifecycle.

Coordination of Procurement Tasks Arising from Projects

Coordinate all procurement activities derived from project requirements, ensuring clarity of responsibilities, deadlines, and deliverables.Monitor the status of procurement work packages, ensuring timely execution, quality of results, and proactive issue resolution.Review and validate supplier quotations, technical specifications, and internal cost assessments for plausibility and consistency.Prepare and present procurement-related progress reports, KPIs, and recommendations to project steering committees.

Management of Internal Procurement Processes for Prototype & Test Engine Parts

Oversee and steer internal procurement processes to ensure the timely provision of prototype parts and components required for test engines and validation.Coordinate with engineering, logistics, and suppliers to resolve bottlenecks, technical queries, and delivery issues.

Identification and Realization of Cost-Reduction Potentials

Analyze cost structures and procurement data to identify strategic levers for cost optimization.Collaborate closely with engineering, quality, and suppliers to realize design-to-cost opportunities.Contribute to long-term procurement strategies

Basic Requirements:

Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Engineering, Business Administration, Supply Chain Management, or a related field. Several years of experience in procurement, preferably in a project-oriented or technical environment“Applicants must be authorized to work for any employer in the U.S without sponsorship. Preferred Qualifications:

Strong understanding of value analysis, cost engineering, and sourcing strategies.Excellent analytical skills paired with a structured and solution-oriented working style.Strong communication skills and the ability to work effectively in cross-functional and international teams.Experience in interacting with suppliers and negotiating commercial terms is considered an asset.Proficiency in ERP systems and Microsoft Office SuiteAbility to lead projects and collaborate effectively with cross-functional teamsAbility to travel - domestic and international and work flexible hoursSpecific knowledge of Off-Highway Diesel Engine commodities, materials and productsSeveral years of professional experience in purchasing with focus on international procurement, ideally in the casting sectorEngineering or technical degreeGerman language skillsSAP experience

This position is primarily based in a flexible office environment and follows a standard Monday through Friday work schedule, in alignment with the Rolls-Royce America Inc. Flexible Work Policy.
