Project Manager - Millwork Operations

PURPOSE 

 

Establishes, implements and directs millwork operation strategies across the enterprise.  Works with regional and location leadership to facilitate process improvement strategies, gain efficiencies in order to improve bottom line profits.

 

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

 

Analyzes and establishes millwork operational efficiencies to meet market goals and maximize working capital.  Oversees the implementation of company strategies across the enterprise. Oversees company-wide millwork operations to ensure increased sales and profitability of business mix including establishing consistent and competitive pricing practices in coordination with market strategies. Facilitates cost containment measures and analyzes all possible avenues of controlling both fixed and variable costs at an operational level. Oversees millwork operations to improve product quality and ensures implementation of appropriate improvements that positively improve product quality. Sets tone and direction to ensure proper inventory management in coordination with market goals. Serves as a liaison between operations and various corporate and regional offices and ensures operations are in line with company goals and strategies. Understands and observes all safety procedures and practices in order to prevent injury to self or co-workers; attends periodic safety meetings as required; may recommend changes to improve safety procedures. Other duties may be assigned.

This job has no supervisory responsibilities.

 

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS

To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required.

 

Bachelor’s Degree with ten (10) years’ experience managing a millwork operation or supporting multiple millwork operations in a regional or national capacity; or an equivalent combination of education and experience.  Demonstrated experience with lean processing techniques.

 

COMPETENCIES

 

Knowledge of company products, competitors’ products and company standards Strong verbal and written communication skills Knowledge of basic sales techniques, concepts and the ability to influence and persuade Knowledge of advanced millwork manufacturing techniques, concepts and the ability to influence and persuade best in class practices Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite (i.e. Excel, Word, PowerPoint, etc.) and an enterprise resource planning (ERP) program Working knowledge of AutoCAD is preferred, but not required.

Combination of indoor and outdoor environments and physical activity requirements.  Work is in an office setting and generally sedentary with physical effort associated with using a computer, but may involve walking or standing for brief periods of time. Occasional oversight activities may take place out of doors, subject to temperature and weather variations. Willingness and ability to travel to facility locations up to 75%.
