Job Title: Industrial Engineering Project ManagerJob Description

We are seeking an experienced Industrial Engineering Project Manager to lead new construction and industrial systems projects, with a strong focus on food processing environments. The ideal candidate has hands-on experience with automation, commissioning, equipment installation, and facility infrastructure. Experience in baking—especially wafers or crackers—is strongly preferred. This role will oversee projects from concept through start-up, ensuring systems are implemented to meet food safety, quality, and operational standards.

ResponsibilitiesLead end-to-end project execution for new construction and industrial processing system installations.Manage site planning, facility infrastructure development, and equipment layout to support high-performance production workflows.Coordinate engineering activities across mechanical, electrical, controls, and process disciplines.Oversee installation and integration of industrial systems, including ingredient handling, mixing, forming, baking, cooling, and packaging.Ensure designs meet the operational needs of food production environments with an emphasis on efficiency, throughput, and automation.Manage commissioning phases including system testing, controls validation, automation integration, and start-up support.Troubleshoot automation and process issues during installation and initial production runs.Ensure all project designs and implementations comply with food safety standards, Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP), sanitation requirements, and regulatory expectations.Support the development of SOPs for new or modified equipment and systems.Essential SkillsDegree in Engineering or Construction Management.5+ years of experience with hands-on experience with industrial automation and commissioning, including system testing, controls validation, and automation integration.Experience in industrial equipment installation and facility infrastructure development within new construction and processing system installations.Experience leading greenfield or brownfield construction projects, including site planning, building layout, hygienic zoning, and civil/structural readiness (drainage, foundations, utilities).Ability to work effectively within multi-discipline engineering teams (mechanical, electrical, controls, process) and coordinate construction activities accordingly.Knowledge of construction codes and standards relevant to industrial food facilities, including IBC, NFPA, NEC, and OSHA-related construction practices.Additional Skills & QualificationsExperience with baking industry processes, with preference for wafers, crackers, and other thermal processes.Familiarity with HACCP, GMP, and food safety regulations.Work Environment

Job Type & Location

This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Columbus, OH.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $57.69 - $81.73/hr.
