We are seeking an experienced Quality Control Manager/Engineer for Tunnel Approach & Interior Structures as part of a major bridge-tunnel expansion project. This role involves solving construction quality problems, establishing effective working relationships with contractors and inspectors, and ensuring compliance with construction plans and specifications. The position requires managing sub-consultants, coordinating inspection sampling and testing of construction materials, and preparing necessary reports.

ResponsibilitiesSolve construction quality problems in the field.Establish effective working relationships with contractors and inspectors.Assist in inspections to ensure compliance with contract plans and specifications.Prepare and review daily, weekly, and monthly reports as required.Manage sub-consultants to coordinate inspection sampling and testing.Direct and oversee inspection and material testing efforts for tunnel and roadway expansions.Plan, organize, and schedule daily inspection operations.Communicate effectively with co-workers, contractors, and officials.Develop inspection checklists and testing plans.Apply knowledge of federal, state, and local transportation rules and regulations.Read and explain complex drawings and specifications.Essential SkillsMinimum of 12 years of relevant experience with a High School Diploma or GED, or 10 years with a Bachelor's Degree in a relevant field.Solid experience in construction methods, inspection, and materials testing.VDOT certifications or in-depth knowledge of VDOT standards required.Proven experience in project management roles with successful project delivery.Strong organizational and time-management skills.Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.Knowledge of industry standards and best practices in construction management and quality assurance.Strong problem-solving skills.Additional Skills & QualificationsEngineering degree or PE license preferred.Strong computer experience with office software and web-based databases.Experience writing technical memos, reports, and emails.Knowledge of structural mechanics and strength of materials.Professional license or certification within the field of expertise preferred.Work Environment

This position is located outdoors, in the field, and on-site at the Hampton Roads Bridge Tunnel. The role supports the tunnel portion of the project, offering significant opportunities for overtime, company-paid certifications, and career progression. Benefits include a paid gas card and company vehicle.

Job Type & Location

This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Virginia Beach, VA.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $45.00 - $49.00/hr.
