Project Manager
Project Manager – Facilities & Construction Contract (6–12 months) | Potential Conversion to FTE Role Overview We are seeking an experienced Project Manager to lead construction- and facilities-related projects across multiple sites in Southern California. This is a hands-on, individual contributor role focused on managing building, infrastructure, and facilities initiatives from planning through execution. The Project Manager will partner closely with Facilities, Engineering, IT, Safety, and external vendors to deliver projects on time and within budget. This role is ideal for a proactive PM who can hit the ground running, manage multiple complex projects simultaneously, and operate comfortably in dynamic, operational environments. Key Responsibilities + Lead construction and facilities projects from initiation through completion, ensuring adherence to scope, schedule, and budget + Manage projects related to buildings, infrastructure, cabling, and equipment + Serve as a boots-on-the-ground Project Manager, coordinating day-to-day execution with contractors, vendors, and internal teams + Support projects across multiple sites, including: + ~1.2M sq. ft. manufacturing facility + Large laboratory and engineering spaces + Newly secured office building + Two airport-based operational locations + Support a $13M airport runway refurbishment project and additional capital improvement initiatives + Coordinate with landlords and vendors on office build-outs (e.g., painting, furniture, infrastructure upgrades) + Partner with internal stakeholders on office relocations and site transitions at project completion + Develop and manage project schedules, budgets, timelines, and resource plans + Identify risks, manage dependencies, and drive mitigation plans + Provide clear status updates and reporting to leadership and stakeholders Work Environment & Locations + Primary location: Poway, CA + Travel: Occasional travel to desert-based airport locations near Palmdale and Victorville + Work spans manufacturing, lab, office, and airport operational environments + Collaborative environment working with Facilities, IT/ITS, cabling, safety, security, and engineering teams Ideal Candidate Profile + Experienced Facilities or Construction Project Manager with strong ownership and initiative + Comfortable working independently with minimal oversight + Strong multitasker able to manage multiple active projects simultaneously + Excellent stakeholder and vendor management skills + Experience in aerospace, defense, energy, automotive, or life sciences preferred (industry flexibility for the right candidate) + Practical, decisive, and solutions-oriented with a “get things done” mindset Required Skills & Experience + 8+ years of project management experience supporting construction, facilities, or infrastructure projects + Proven experience managing budgets, schedules, and resource planning + Strong understanding of construction planning, timelines, and cost controls + Proficiency with: + MS Project (required) + Microsoft Office Suite + Procore + Experience with AutoCAD and Jira is a plus + Ability to operate effectively in fast-paced, operational environments Education & Certifications + Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Construction Management, Business, Project Management, or related field + PMP certification preferred (or equivalent experience) Schedule + 9/80 schedule, Monday–Friday + Occasional extended days or weekends as project needs require (not routine) Reporting Structure + Reports to a facilities leader + Works closely with a team of planners and industrial engineers + No direct reports Compensation & Contract Details + Contract length: 6–12 months + Conversion potential: Yes, based on performance and business need + Pay rate: $100–$115/hour (DOE, some flexibility) + Salary equivalent range: + $140K minimum + Up to ~$257K + Target midpoint ~$218K–$220K + Target start date: February preferred; realistically mid-March Why This Role + Increased project volume driven by new awards and expanded operations + Opportunity to lead high-visibility, large-scale facilities and infrastructure projects + Strong chance to convert to full-time for high performers Job Type & Location This is a Contract position based out of Poway, CA. Pay and Benefits The pay range for this position is $110.00 - $115.00/hr. Eligibility requirements apply to some benefits and may depend on your job classification and length of employment.
