The Project Manager serves as a trusted consultant, offering project management expertise across various technology stacks and services. This role involves managing projects of low to medium complexity, which may include mainstream, legacy, and emerging technologies. The Project Manager may work independently or within a larger program under the guidance of Program Managers. The primary responsibility is to balance scope, schedules, and budget while leveraging PMO tools to drive successful business outcomes. The position involves collaborating with engineers, sales teams, cross-functional business areas, customer staff, and third-party consultants. As a project advocate, the Project Manager builds relationships and drives successful engagements through negotiation, communication, and leadership.
Responsibilities
+ Utilize experience and methodologies to understand client goals and provide consultative solutions aligned with client strategy.
+ Act as a trusted consultant to the project team regarding project delivery and best practices.
+ Maintain a presence with all stakeholders, ensuring quality and stakeholder expectations are met.
+ Negotiate project changes effectively to achieve stakeholder satisfaction and positive results.
+ Gather information, assess project impacts, document mitigation steps, and communicate with the team and client.
+ Independently manage medium to large-sized projects requiring complex cross-functional collaboration.
+ Track project budgets and resources, managing actuals versus planned hours to ensure profitability.
+ Ensure accurate tracking and approval of time, expenses, and invoices against the project.
+ Validate initial project scope and estimates, determining the need for new Statements of Work or Change Orders.
+ Ensure delivery of all defined items and perform quality assurance throughout the project lifecycle.
+ Establish, monitor, and communicate project schedules, adjusting as necessary.
+ Identify and optimize resources, drive client satisfaction, and ensure project profitability.
+ Identify, document, track, and resolve project risks and issues promptly.
+ Manage procurement and delivery schedules for equipment, software, licensing, and services.
+ Document outcomes and lessons learned, sharing insights to drive process improvements.
+ Take accountability for project results and hold team members accountable for their scope of work.
+ Build strong relationships with stakeholders and instill trust.
+ Use political savviness and business acumen to establish credibility.
+ Lead teams to consistently meet project success factors and exceed client expectations.
+ Coach and mentor Associate Project Managers.
+ Stay informed of industry best practices and share knowledge within the PMO.
+ Manage project documentation and ensure quality delivery to clients.
+ Adapt communication style to audience needs and effectively deliver complex information.
+ Develop and manage detailed schedules and work plans.
Essential Skills
+ Bachelor's Degree in a computer-related field.
+ 4+ years of experience in a project management role.
+ 2+ years of experience using ERP (formerly FinancialForce).
+ Experience leading small to medium-scale projects.
Additional Skills & Qualifications
+ Professional services industry experience.
+ PMP Certification.
+ Agile Certification.
+ Experience using Waterfall and Agile methods (Scrum, Kanban, etc.).
+ Project management or agile consulting experience.
+ Ability to support presales activities and identify new sales opportunities.
+ Experience managing projects with multiple technologies.
+ Proficiency in project management methodologies and tools like Microsoft Project/Office.
+ Excellent written, presentation, and verbal communication skills.
+ Ability to work weekends and/or off-hours as necessary.
Work Environment
This position is 100% remote. The team is distributed across the country. The role is initially contract-to-hire, offering flexibility in work hours to meet client needs.
Job Type & Location
This is a Contract position based out of Vernon Hills, Illinois.
Pay and Benefits
The pay range for this position is $40.00 - $50.00/hr.
