The Project Manager, Sales drives revenue growth by managing complex project opportunities from initial lead identification through specification, quotation, closing, and post‑award support. Projects may include municipal water treatment systems, industrial process automation, or advanced valve integration for energy sector clients. This role integrates technical consultative selling, project pursuit, design influence, and channel coordination to win targeted project business across engineering firms, contractors, distributors, and end users. The Project Manager is also expected to leverage AI-driven tools for lead generation, sales forecasting, and market analysis, enhancing decision-making and efficiency throughout the sales cycle. 

 

The Project Manager, Sales serves as a cross-functional liaison aligning Sales, Engineering, Customer Care, Product Management, and Operations to ensure customer needs are met and Flow Control is positioned as the preferred specification and project partner. This role will cover the Southeast region of the US. 

Responsibilities

Project Identification & Pursuit 

Identify and qualify major project opportunities using drawings, specifications, and application reviews; evaluate project value, scope, timing, and conversion potential. Utilize AI-powered prospecting tools to streamline opportunity identification and prioritize high-potential projects. Track projects through all pursuit stages, maintaining an accurate pipeline in CRM with updates, notes, and probability forecasting. Incorporate AI-based analytics to enhance pipeline accuracy and improve forecasting reliability. Develop project pursuit strategies that include early engagement, design influence, and alignment with key influencers such as engineers, project managers, specifiers, and consultants. 

 

Technical Engagement & Design Influence 

Collaborate with engineering teams to understand fluid handling challenges and deliver tailored solutions, product recommendations, and value-added options. Apply AI-assisted design tools to provide optimized solutions and accelerate proposal development. Support Contractors and End Users with technical presentations, jobsite visits, design reviews, and product demonstrations. Ensure Flow Control products are properly specified in project documents and bid packages. 

Customer & Channel Management 

Build and maintain strong relationships across contractors, end users, distributors, and internal teams to ensure customer satisfaction and project alignment. Conduct onsite sales calls, presentations, and lunch‑and‑learns to promote Flow Control solutions and identify new opportunities. Leverage AI-driven customer insights to personalize outreach and maximize engagement. Work cross‑functionally with Customer Care, Technical Service, and Product Management to support project needs and resolve customer challenges efficiently. 

Proposal Development & Closing 

Develop accurate and timely project quotes, solution proposals, and pricing strategies consistent with market conditions and value‑based selling practices. Utilize AI-enabled pricing tools to ensure competitive and optimized proposals. Manage follow‑up, negotiation, and deal closing while maintaining margin discipline. Communicate project status across internal stakeholders to ensure readiness for order fulfillment once awarded. 

Sales Process Execution & Reporting 

Maintain strict discipline in CRM, documenting account activity, opportunities, project stages, and forecasting. Employ AI-based reporting features to automate data entry and generate actionable sales insights. Complete weekly sales activity reports, project updates, and pipeline reviews as required. Conduct routine market analysis to understand customer needs, competitor activity, product positioning, and pricing expectations. Integrate AI-driven market intelligence platforms to monitor trends and inform strategic decisions.  Qualifications

Required 

Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Business, or related construction field experience. 7+ years of successful experience working with contractors in technical sales and account management, preferably in industrial or fluid-handling equipment or piping. Demonstrated experience with large‑scale project selling and cross-functional collaboration. Strong communication, planning, and presentation skills. 

Preferred 

Ability to interpret technical drawings and specifications. Familiarity with Salesforce or equivalent CRM tools. Strong analytical skills for evaluating a project's competitive positioning. Demonstrated experience using AI-powered sales prospecting, pipeline analytics, or pricing optimization platforms such as Salesforce Einstein, HubSpot AI, or similar solutions. 

Travel Requirements 

Estimated 30–50% travel, depending on region and project load, including jobsite visits, engineering presentations, distributor training, and trade shows. Some virtual meetings and presentations may leverage AI-powered collaboration platforms to reduce travel needs and increase efficiency. #
