Job Description:
This position researches, develops, and deploys new automated sortation systems including robotics, autonomous guided vehicles (AGVs), and solutions for sortation and transportation. He/She develops and validates equipment performance criteria and provides field support for acceptance testing. This position interfaces with sortation equipment vendors to implement system performance enhancement campaigns and develop new equipment for deployment in the field. He/She attends industry trade shows to research new technologies for implementation within UPS.
Responsibilities:
Manages a team of supervisors in performing sortation systems acceptance testing and validate system performance in facilities.
Provides field support for facility engineers and project managers to resolve sortation system performance issues with vendors.
Works with vendors to develop new equipment and improve existing equipment.
Trains, coaches, and develops direct reports to take on higher levels of responsibility.
Develops project management plans and leads the implementation for basic projects of short duration requiring limited coordination and resources.
Holds vendors and suppliers accountable for meeting system performance criteria.
Qualifications:
Bachelor's Degree or international equivalent in Engineering or related field - Preferred
Excellent verbal and written communication skills
Previous experience as Plant Engineering Manager or Supervisor with skills in Automated Sortation Systems in an automated hub
Ability to travel as needed
Internal Salary Grade: 30E
