Project Engineer
Job Title: Project EngineerJob Description We are seeking a motivated Project Engineer to join our dynamic team. This role is perfect for an individual with a background in mechanical or structural engineering, or someone with hands-on construction experience. You will work closely with our team of professionals to investigate construction projects and support legal actions against faulty contracting and construction practices. Responsibilities + Travel to job sites across New Jersey three days a week. + Work under the direction of a Project Manager to conduct site surveys and inspections. + Participate in site walk-throughs with Project Engineers and Inspectors to determine how drawings should be drafted. + Write detailed reports and communicate findings effectively. + Coordinate with on-site contractors and clients. + Run weekly site meetings, log minutes, and handle submittals. + Collaborate with engineers to develop repair plans and specifications. + Work alongside Professional Engineers and Licensed Architects to build cases against contractors. + Use AutoCAD to draft and design drawings for future construction based on original plans. + Utilize Bluebeam for data entry and Open CAD for navigating drawings. Essential Skills + Engineering Degree in structural or architectural technology/engineering or equivalent on-site construction experience. + Experience with building structures and knowledge of construction practices. + Strong report writing skills. + Proficiency with AutoCAD and Bluebeam. + Ability to travel to job sites and effectively communicate with contractors. Additional Skills & Qualifications + 2-6 years of professional experience. + Degree in MEP or structural engineering discipline preferred. + On a path to becoming licensed if degreed; hands-on construction knowledge if not degreed. + Ability to reference NJ building code books. + Strong interpersonal skills. Work Environment The work environment is a small, relaxed, and professional office with a team-oriented culture. The office, located in Bedminster, NJ, is equipped with the latest versions of Revit and AutoCAD. Employees enjoy a balance of hard work and leisure activities such as Xbox, ping pong, and Friday BBQs. Office hours are from 8 to 5, with some evening meetings required. Employees receive a laptop and cellphone, and there is flexibility for remote work. The role involves traveling to various job sites, including locations such as the Gold Coast, Secaucus, Princeton/Plainsboro, and Long Branch/Asbury Park. The team values accountability, teamwork, and a strong work-life balance. Job Type & Location This is a Contract to Hire position based out of SOMERVILLE, NJ. Pay and Benefits The pay range for this position is $33.65 - $43.26/hr. Eligibility requirements apply to some benefits and may depend on your job classification and length of employment.
