Project Engineer
Southland Holdings is seeking a highly motivated Project Engineer to join our Water Treatment Plant Team in Leadville, Colorado. Relocation or travel may be required. Responsibilities: + Ensure a "Safety First" attitude throughout the project from all levels of management and operations + Assist the team in developing and safely executing comprehensive project work plans. + Perform engineering tasks in both field and office to assist in procurement, staging, and installation of materials per contract documents. + Perform site walks to accurately track daily field production and field logs for pay applications and schedule oversight. Assure credibility of the information recorded in the project files. + Draft and upload accurate submittals and RFIs + Understand and organize copies of project plans, specifications, RFIs, approved submittals, and change orders to assist crews in the field. + Assist in tracking project budgets and costs. Identify cost-saving opportunities and ensure adherence to financial targets. + Monitor Schedule to proactively avoid delays. Evaluate activity sequences and constructability. Assess potential impacts and report to Project Manager and Superintendent + Assist in contracts management. This includes Subcontracts, Purchase Orders, Professional Services, Change Orders, and RFP’s. Coordinate with subcontractors and vendors to ensure timely project completion. + Help and motivate project teams to achieve project objectives. Foster a collaborative work environment and promote teamwork and accountability. + Address project challenges and obstacles effectively. Implement innovative solutions to overcome issues and ensure project success. Qualifications: + Bachelor’s degree in civil engineering, Construction Management, or related field. + Minimum of 2 years of experience in construction, preferably heavy civil or infrastructure. + Highly organized and experienced with cloud-based document management and collaboration systems + Strong understanding of civil, mechanical, or structural engineering processes and techniques. + Proven track record of successfully managing complex construction projects from initiation to completion. + Excellent written and verbal communication skills. + Ability to learn and follow safety standards, local building codes, regulations, and permitting processes in the Colorado area. + Safety certifications are a plus. + Experience with Microsoft Excel, AutoCAD, BIM, Revu, and Primavera P6 are a plus For more than 100 years, hard-working, honest, innovative people have been building what has become SOUTHLAND HOLDINGS.
