Reporting to the Plant Engineering Manager, the Mechanical Engineer works under general direction applying expertise to generate solutions that require development or sustainment of new or improved techniques, procedures, or products. Responsibilities include managing project initiatives meeting timely, cost-effective objectives.
Responsibilities
Read and interpret blueprints, technical drawings, schematics, and computer-generated reports.
Build prototypes, products, and systems for testing and production.
Research, design, evaluate, install, operate, and maintain mechanical products, equipment, systems and processes to meet requirements, applying knowledge of engineering principles and computer aided design tools.
Investigate equipment failures and difficulties to diagnose faulty operation, and to make recommendations to maintenance crew.
Contribute to design standards and support design reuse.
Design and implement cost-effective equipment modifications to help improve safety and reliability.
Manage projects in conjunction with manufacturing departments, sub-contractors, suppliers and customers.
Ensure a product can be made reliably and will perform consistently in specified operating environments
Produce detailed specifications and outline designs
Recommend modifications following prototype test results
Consider cost, safety and time constraints in all engineering tasks
Project management of facility improvement and infrastructure upgrade projects.
Qualifications
Proficient in SolidWorks, AutoCAD, and Microsoft Office
Engineering skills with heavy industrial machine and equipment
Strong written and verbal communication skills
Understanding of Lean Principles
Understanding of control systems preferred
Strong troubleshooting ability
Education and Experience
BS in Mechanical Engineering or other relevant engineering discipline
3 or more years of industrial manufacturing experience in a Mechanical Engineering capacity
