At 1898 Co., a part of Burns McDonnell, our Renewable Markets Advisory (RMA) team helps clients navigate rapid change across the energy landscape. Growing electricity demand combined with fossil retirements, renewable and storage buildout, and transmission and interconnection constraints is reshaping how power systems are planned, developed, and operated. We work with utilities, developers, and investors to assess, develop, and plan generation and grid investments across the full asset lifecycle. We’re seeking a Project Delivery Manager (PDM) to lead and grow our Renewable Markets Advisory business line within 1898 Co. This leadership role provides operational oversight, team development, and project excellence across consulting engagements related to renewable development and market assessments. The PDM will play a key role in building and mentoring a high-performing consulting team while ensuring the delivery of high-quality work and alignment with our firm’s values and mission.

What You’ll Do

As a Project Delivery Manager, you will provide strategic and operational leadership to a team of consultants and analysts supporting the execution of projects within the Renewables Markets Assessments business line and adjacent service areas. You will work closely with managing directors, project managers, and business line leads to ensure project excellence, staff development, and alignment with company goals and values. Key responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

Leadership Team Development

Provide leadership to the Renewables Markets Advisory team; direct and coordinate work assignments and review performance to ensure efficient, cost-effective utilization of staff.

Recruit, develop, train, and retain high-performing staff capable of delivering exceptional consulting and technical work.

Conduct performance evaluations and regular one-on-one meetings to provide feedback, guidance, and professional development support.

Promote the Burns McDonnell culture, values, and mission, while modeling 1898 Co.’s traits: tenacious problem solvers, curious seekers, unselfish collaborators, and grit.

Interpret and communicate organizational goals, policies, and business priorities to staff.

Project Resource Management

Provide expert-level technical and commercial guidance for consulting engagements involving renewable generation development and operation and market assessments.

Ensure efficient staff assignment, workload management, and utilization to support profitable project delivery and meet billable targets.

Lead and oversee project QA/QC efforts, ensuring deliverables meet client expectations and company standards.

Collaborate with project managers to manage project scope, schedule, and budget performance, maintaining high-quality outcomes across multiple engagements.

Support the development and implementation of best practices in project delivery, quality management, and technical execution.

Ensure compliance with company and safety policies across all projects.

Strategic Operational Execution

Collaborate with managing directors, business line leads, and proposal teams to support business development and secure new client engagements.

Oversee the delivery of consulting services that include wind, solar, and storage development; owner’s engineer evaluations; transaction support; integrated resource plans; competitive transmission assessments; and more.

Guide the team in developing asset management plans, maintenance strategies, and decommissioning studies that drive long-term client value.

Support the preparation of financial models, technical reports, and presentations summarizing findings and recommendations for clients.

Implement and support firmwide programs and initiatives, ensuring effective communication and adoption within the team.

Monitor key performance metrics, drive continuous improvement, and ensure achievement of stated financial and operational targets.

Promote collaboration with adjacent business lines to advance cross-functional opportunities
